What I'm surprised about is the venue sizes. It sounds like intimate is what they're going for though. I mean I grew up in Erie and know the Warner Theater quite well, and it's very old and not very large. So I'm assuming all these venues will be the same type. I'm guessing it's not the the show/production like the one they do for the holidays. Im sure the sound and the music would be really cool to hear though. No Florida dates though. Oh well.

The Chicago Theater is pretty big... (not enormous but not a small intimate setting either).

Yeah, this isn't new. O'Neill had said last year they were planning on touring during this upcoming year to support the new album and older material.

I just think it'd be kinda weird to see these guys any time after like the first week of January. I might still check it out though, the Playhouse Square theaters in Cleveland are beautiful.

Well, Erie is a much smaller city than Chicago, so maybe they account for population size when they pick too  It definitely won't be the big fire and technical show they usually have though, in a theater setting I don't think. I'd still go if they were coming to FL. Maybe they will add more dates. I mean they ORIGINATE out of Florida, so I just can't believe they would not play here. Maybe they will end the tour here or something.

You're right...Their Christmas albums and tours have been so much more successful than the other two albums. I just don't think O'Neill's style works as well for non-Christmas music. Unfortunately, he doesn't currently have any plans to do any more new Christmas albums. He said he'd planned the trilogy of Christmas albums and didn't want to go beyond that.

I have a thought for him, though...He could do another trilogy called something like "Christmas Past", "Christmas Present", and "Christmas Future". The first would have his take on old Christmas hymns, traditional folk songs, etc. The second would have his take on more modern stuff. And the last would be all brand-new stuff.

maybe because theyre ORIGINATE out of Florida, they rather play anywhere BUT Florida !!

Also,,, maybe they just know that in Florida, the Christmas shows sell well cause of the HUGE amount of mature audience,,,, and the spring show is more aimed towards the younger audience :P

and if youre gonna get technical about their ORIGINATION :

Trans-Siberian Orchestra was founded in 1996 in New York City by composer Paul O'Neill who approached long-time friends Jon Oliva, Robert Kinkel, and Al Pitrelli. The group's name is inspired by the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia, which Kinkel says connects many cultures otherwise isolated, much like music.

I would be willing to bet, per capita, that YOU live around more old people in your county than I do :P

And it may have been FOUNDED there, but the people who started TSO were largely from a rock group who ORIGINATED in Florida, and they record here, lives here, and they for many years kicked off their tour here in Florida, Lakeland to be exact, which is NOT a large city by any means.

I will take that bet gladly,,, most people around me move to your state as soon as they reach your age :P

Also,, the first three years, TSO, STARTED their tour in Pennsylvania..... the first 2 years , they didnt play a SINGLE show in Florida,,, they eventually moved their project and their recording studio to Florida, but they did not originate from Florida ! :)

Yes, our state is HUGE and populated. They move to more rural or coastal counties. Trust me, I can see them when I go to the beach

And the band "Savatage" was a FLORIDIAN band, and Paul O'neil PRODUCED them, and so as I said, a few of the originating members are in fact, Floridian. And did you ever wonder WHY they'd move to Clearwater? One of them is actually from Orlando. They mentioned that during the concert. I can't remember which one though... :P And the Lakeland thing was a few years back, I never said it was when they started.

Savatage originated in Florida, yes . TSO didnt :)

So your original question would be valid if you were wondering why Savatage isnt touring in Florida :P

Well YOU are getting technical. I may have WORDED things badly. Some of the key MEMBERS originated here, and that is SURPRISING with the fact they record here, live here, and have friends and family here, that they would have no florida dates. Better?? :P

This is the weirdest pissing contest I have ever seen.

(well, except for that one time in Flagstaff back in '92, but that's a different matter...)

If I remember right, that "Christmas Eve Sarajevo" song was on a Savatage album first, mid-90's I believe? So then technically couldn't one say TSO kind of started in FL? (just being a PITA :D lol)

Ah now it makes sense. I forgot nowdays when a bands touring manager starts booking places, he looks more into where the band members friends , aunts and unlce live and plans the tour based on upcoming family reunions and birthday parties
