Bought engagement ring Saturday

She was with me when I bought it. I wanted her to pick out the one she liked best. She'll be the one wearing it. I did not propose yet & told her I wouldn't be giving it to her on Valentine's Day because that's too predictable. I will give it to her on Mar 4th, 6 months from the day we met in person. No wedding date set yet.

My dad actually bought the center diamond in Germany over 30 years ago. He bought 3 at the time. Gave one to my mom, one to my sister when she got married over 20 years ago and now one to me. The jewelry store checked it out and it is 6/10 of a carat. The other remaining diamonds are 3/4 carat for a total of 1.35 carats. She wanted to have something that has somewhat of a vintage style to it because of the history behind the center diamond.

Thanks a bunch to everyone for the kind words. This is new territory for me, never been engaged before. It feels sort of surreal.

Only one little dude/dudette maximum! I'm 43 and don't want to be chasing little kiddos around when I'm old(er)! :D

Someone mentioned Jason would be broked-hearted. Well, I gave him the chance but he said he was saving himself for SteveW2! :shock: :lol:

We have been throwing various ideas around about the wedding. When/how to do it, etc. We both do not want a huge wedding. We would rather gear that money towards a new house, furtinure, etc. We are both big baseball fans. I'm a huge Cubs fan & she's a huge Astros fan. Mortal enemies but as long as the Cubs end higher in the standings every year, everything's cool. One scenario would be for her to have an Astros home jersey with the name "BRIDE" on the back. And me with a Cubs road jersey with the name "GROOM" on the back. We would get married in a suite at Minute Maid Park in Houston during an Astros/Cubs game. Not romantic but totally unique. It was her initial idea.

Ken, congratulations on your engagement. The ring is beautiful. I wish you & your fiance all the best, but you gotta rethink the whole one-baby decision, dude. Little Kenny Jr's going to want a baby sister so he has someone to push in the mud. :wink:

Keep us posted on any future wedding plans. You gotta know the MR ladies are going to want to hear all about your color scheme & so forth. :D
