Blackberry/cell phone opinions...

Up for a new phone, would like to get one that views internet better than what I have now, I keep being told any Blackberry (or as my brother calls his, a Crackberry, lol) would be good. Opinions on them? Or other phones along that line?

I know the iPhone is great, but I don't have AT&T.

Edgar has the touchscreen blackberry. You should send him a facebook message and ask how he likes it! At first he wasn't super happy but I can't remember why. That would be their closest thong to the iPhone, I THINK anyway

can you get a droid? Those are probably better than the blackberry. I think blackberries are better for business people, but I could be wrong  it's verizon though.

There is a reason why the Blackberry is referred to as a Crackberry. It's that good.

I hated the blackberry Pearl at first when I got it in 2007 but learned to love it... then 5 months ago we updated to the G3 T- Mobile
touch screen...and at first I did not like it, but wow... it so rocks. I mostly use it to call and dont down load a lot on, but the person on the other end sounds like they are next door to you...the unlimited plans t mobile has are very reasonable...MHO... dont get stuck with the cheapest plan as it will end up costing you more in the long run... you know the 400 minute months... you will learn fast that you will eat those up in the first 3 weeks of every month.

Don't go to AT&T for the iPhone, their coverage really does suck. My friends hate it.

BlackBerry's probably solid, Droid is unproven and new - if you have to have the phone now, I'd just get the BB. These new first-run models of any new electronic these days are always filled with bugs and problems. That's why I'd stay away from the Droid.

That Fender phone looks cool...

I just stick with an incredibly bare bones LG flip phone. Not much of a phone user at all and I'm by my laptop all day, don't need Internet on my phone.

I've seen the droid in action. 2 of my family members have them and love them and they both are computer/techi geeks (for a living) . it's not a bad option at all. Though maybe there are bugs I dont know about. Who knows.

I think the touchscreen 3G must be what my friend has that I mentioned above. He hated it at first too! Wonder why? But he kept it and seems okay on the net with it. Though I think my Iphone is more user friendly for that.

And well the Iphone just doesn't have a word that rhymes with crack  Just as addictive though  I just discussed that with my neighbor, as her computer is not working and she said she's getting so much done around the house now. I said if I"d lose my phone for a few days I bet I would too!

well at first I could not control how to use the screen to hit the right buttons... when dialing out and when trying to type... the keyboard is okay but very sensative to the touch and if you have thick fingers like I do... I was always hitting the wrong key... .. and so forth....but now I am getting used to it... so its no big deal... I mostly download ESPN or the weather stuff and ring tones...

I'm sure it's a great phone, just as the early run iPhones were. It's just best to let them iron out the kinks in the first batch for these kinds of things, imo.

maybe that's what it was for him too! Cause he's a guy and has big fingers too and I'm sure it's a huge adjustment from a keyboard to a touchscreen.

That MAY just persuade me to finally enter the Smart Phone market. I feel like I'm the only one of my friends that doesn't have one of those fuckin things.

I don't really get how that happened to begin with. But I have AT&T and apparently are one of the few who have not issues, a great plan that I can't leave even if I wanted to because no one has one like it anymore. It's obsolete now. We have a family plan for my kids, and roll over minutes, and all kinds of things that I love. And the sales people have always been great to deal with. I dont' get the big hate for them. But maybe because they were our first carrier, and we got in with a good plan early on, it just doesn't feel like I'm being ripped off. who knows. I haven't had any problems with my signals where I live though.

Could be different down in Florida - AT&T is a joke in my neck of the woods. I didn't get reception in so many common parts of Cleveland in the short time i was on it. I have a hell of a time getting through to two of my friends because they inexplicably don't get service in their houses with AT&T (and their houses aren't out in the boonies or anything like that).

Well they need WIFI then, duh  I have wifi at home and use that and the 3G just kicks in when I leave the house. But 3G DOES work IN my house too though.

I'm so leery of getting any touch screen phone, I'm afraid I won't like it either, lol. I've played with Lynn's and it's neat really, but I can't seem to use the virtual keyboard on there for crap, lol (I can type just fine on the one I have now, the phone looks just like a Blackberry, but isn't), and then I totally screw it up when she hands it to me to read something, if I touch it anywhere on the screen, I screw it all up  Then if you turn it, that's even more fun, first it's horizontal, then it's vertical, WTF!  But yeah it's neat, lol.

It's all about getting used to it though. Typing something with it once every 6 months you can't. When you use it all day everyday,it gets faster and easier. Have you seen my kids text on a cheap flip phone   Alyssa can do it behind her back   You would get used to a touch screen. But doesn't the 3G phone that Rick mentioned have a keypad and a touchscreen? I cant' remember... I think only the Iphone has a touchscreen keyboard, right?

Oh and the Blackberry I've been looking at is the Curve 8530, I have yet to read a bad review about it. Apparently the track pad is much better than the track ball was on the others, supposedly browses just like a laptop.
