And people criticized that Ellen wasn't in the music industry??? That would just make it a circus. No way that happens.

They shouldn't tamper with what works. Simon is the star of the show. Without him it's like Journey without Perry... and I don't know that Howard Stern would do as Arnel does as an impersonator.

He's in the music industry. I would absolutely watch it with him on there.

I haven't seen a show with Ellen yet, but I'm not too thrilled with the idea. I think Victoria Beckham is doing better than Paula.

Yea, compared to Ellen, Howard might as well be Irving Azoff for music industry savvy. There's absolutely no comparison.

I'd watch AI if Stern would replace Cowell. Stern can be a straight forward, rude judge (much like Cowell) without being AS annoying as Cowell. Love or hate Steren, he is an amazing entertainer.

Agreed. I don't find Simon funny at all, just rude and it's not impressive at all but you can tell HE thinks he is   , where Stern is at least funny, if you get his humor, which I do, lol. Used to listen to his show sometimes when he was on regular radio still, and caught his E channel show sometimes too when it was still on.

And the Idol people can "want" him all day long, he would never do it. Never. I will eat a mouse if he ever did something like that, especially while his own show was still on the air (personally I don't think he'd ever do a thing like period). There is no danger of Stern judging on AI.

He wouldn't even get on a plane to LA to do Conan's last show, and that has been a story he's actually cared about and talked about endlessly. I thought fo SURE that his hatred of Leno would have him out there in 2 seconds, but nope.

It's funny how the canned line of calling him a "disgusting pig" is the only constructive criticism people can ever offer for the guy. Most have probably never listened to him or have maybe heard one bit out of context.

I used to love the guy, but I feel he's lost his edge since going to satellite. The ability to say ANYTHING in ANY WAY has taken the creative "edge" off, where he had to say and do things creatively and you just KNEW he was pushing the envelope and pissing the execs off. That was the true genius of the show beneath the stuff that was also funny on the surface. I hope he comes back to terrestrial radio.

Exactly... out of context is what most people base their opinion on.

I actually prefer the show (overall) since moving to satellite. He's a lot more open and candid with interviews than he ever could be on regular radio, and the fact that it's no longer all about the "shock" thing, in my opinion, is better. He can just be who he is and say what he wants and nothing is ever censored. I don't need "edge" or "drama"... I just want a good show with good uncensored conversation and good interviews.

I think he lost his edge cause he did the same thing for too long. Something like this could give him the much needed boost.
I bet those who put him down , never really listened to his show....

Don't get me wrong, people are entitled to not like him, I understand he's not everyone's bag.

But it's just sad when it's just "UGH! He's a pig!" over and over.

Howard is the American Dream! The guy was a total dork from a very modest family who made it HUGE on his own initiative, balls, and hard work. Even if I didn't like his show, I'd respect that about him.

I watched and listened to Howard for a long time and some of his show I like....I just don't think he is a good fit for idol. They already have Ellen (and she has no music industry experience) I just think they need someone who produces and writes music to fill Simon's spot on the panel. JMO

People who call him no talent really have never listened to his show consistently enough to know there's two parts to his show. He is highly intelligent and always started off the day discussing topical stories and events in the news and has done some great interviews as well. I love his neuroses. The edge and drama was fun back in the day going against the station. You can not like him, but to call him no talent is way off base .
