Just got home from work - halftime show is awful!

I'm getting the shakes because I'm starting to feel the annual football withdrawal - last 30 min until next fall!

Yup. Roger can't really do much besides scream any more. The Who are still cool motherfuckers though

You're kidding, right?
They were terrible. Zak was great, Roger and especially Pete were terrible.
He was kind of singing whenever he felt like it and playing major slop guitar.
Worst Who performance I've ever seen.

Better than the Stones? I'd call it a draw. They both sucked.
McCartney's old too and still kicks ass live. Many bands are pushing or above 60 and are still doing great.
Being old may have something to do with Roger, and I'm actually cutting him a bit of slack.
Pete's voice is pretty much still intact. However, his age doesn't excuse sloppy, under rehearsed playing.
Pete's guitar parts are not that difficult and it was like he just showed up and phoned it in and acted really loopy even for Pete.
Regarding his voice, he would just kind of sing wherever he felt like it.
You can't do that and any musician making a living can tell you that. You sing where you're supposed to and stay off the mic unless you're going to be there for your parts.
Otherwise, they could've left the backup band to just do the harmony stuff. That has nothing to do with age. I hope Roger was all over Pete after the gig.

I think Roger's problems are more due to his gruff style and screaming rather than infirmities of age. The guy looks to be in the shape of a fit 30-something year old! He just can't do it any more. My dad caught him a few months back and Roger literally couldn't even talk on the mic between the songs and had to quit an hour into the show because he couldn't sing any more.

I think I remember you saying that a few months ago. Roger is way physically fit but NEEDS a voice coach. I was AMAZED that they did "See Me". They SHOULD have stuck with My Generation and some lower tunes for Roger. However, if the band had been good (meaning if Pete didn't walk over all the vocal parts and sing shit harmonies and play sloppy ass guitar), I think it would've been a lot better. It looked like Pete didn't rehearse. Also, when you've got a full backup band playing and singing all the harmonies and stuff, I would think that it'd make you pretty lazy and complacent, so you'd kind of just sing wherever you felt like it.
I wasn't thrilled.

Yeah, the full backup band was a huge crutch. I think they hate My Generation, don't they? or at least one of them does. I hate that song too. So overrated.

I loved the Cheap trick comercial "The GREEN police" song. Cute, environmental, and funny. Gold stars for the Cheap trick for doing that one. They would kick the Who's butt live.[url]
