MelodicRockFest 2 - Show Details

Postby Andrew » Fri Feb 12, 2010 11:35 pm

FULL SHOW INFORMATION -

TICKETS -

Purchase tickets via the PayPal links provided. Your receipt (e-mailed to you at the time of purchase) is your confirmation of a completed transaction. The actual show tickets will be mailed out in around 4 weeks time. Please ensure address details are up to date.

ALL tickets are General Admission and sold on a first come, first served basis.

Prices are exactly what is listed - no additional service charges!

SHOW TIMES -

Exact set times will be posted later, but both show days will have doors to the venue open at 12:15. VIP ticket holders will be allowed into the stage area 15 mins earlier (TBC).

First band on each day will be around 1pm and the show is scheduled to finish around Midnight on Saturday and 11:30pm Sunday.

The Friday VIP night will commence around 6pm and will finish when it finishes!

GETTING THERE -

Elgin is situation 40 mins North West of downtown Chicago.

From Chicago, the city is serviced by the Met Rail Milwaukee District / West Line and various bus services. Closest airport is O'Hare International. There are no hotel shuttle services to Elgin.

Venue has a massive car park situated directly behind it for the convenience of all.

VENUE -

Venue is a non-smoking club, with standing room only on main floor and some casual lounge seating in the balcony area.

A full restaurant is located within the venue building, so there is no need to leave for food or drinks, but all ticket holders are free to do so if desired.

SHOW DAYS -

The casual atmosphere of MRF1 will be carried over into this event and I expect many of the artists to mingle with the fans as was the case in 2007.

New MRF2 Merch will be available - T-Shirts and MRCD Volumes, plus an extensive range of new and recent release CDs to purchase - details to come.

Cameras are permitted at this show!

Terry Brock is performing with Valentine as his backing band. He might have a special guest along for the ride, but for those that asked, Hugo is not attending on this occasion.

VIP -

Lots of questions about VIP Tickets. The VIP ticket includes -
Admission to Saturday and Sunday shows + the exclusive Meet & Greet Acoustic Night on Friday April 30.
The artists performing on Friday night will of course be in attendance all evening to mingle with fans, as will some other artists performing over the weekend and additional special guests!
Some artists will not arrive in time for the M&G, but bands I can guarantee being in attendance are: Eden's Curse, Terry Brock and Valentine, Talon, Far Cry, Terje Eide (On The Rise), Eclipse and Robert Sall. Others to be confirmed in due course. Y&T will do meet and greet with fans after their Saturday night headlining set.

Early entry into venue on Saturday and Sunday (exact details TBC).

Free Frontiers Records "Rock The Bones" compilation CD.

Free limited edition MRF2 event poster (which bands can sign).

Exclusive competition giveaways on the night for VIPs only.

More TBA.

VIP it is, even though we're only going to be there for half the weekend. Early entry was the clincher, Cindi is going to want to be right up front with her camera, and hell......somebody has to be right up there too......you know, to hold the lense cap.  :P

I got my VIP ticket this morning. The best part of MRF2 is that I live literally 2.5 miles from the venue! Now it's time to start getting discs and other items to be signed during the weekend. If someone knows of a good site that has some of the artists' CD's for sale, let me know.

I would start with the various bands' websites or myspace/facebook sites. They always pimp their junk out on those things.

Best place I've found to build a catalogue quick and cheap is Amazon's 3rd party sales (the 'New & Used from...') link. You'd be surprised how many unopened or at least mint CDs you can grab for $1.99-$7.99, and some sellers will combine shipping for multiple items. I bought the bulk of Journey's pre-ROR catalogue either brand new or mint for less than $60, and that included several of the remasters w/extra content.

Worst case, if I really just want the songs I'll grab one inclusive GH disc. For signing though, I always feel better handing an artist a studio album than a $6 20th Century Masters disc.

I'm having a bit of a problem with something. I plan on buying VIP. But am I going to have to wrestle my way to the front of the stage every time I go take a piss??? How about having 250 seats for the VIP people so we can sit down. The whole point of a VIP purchase is usually to get the best seat possible ... but there are no seats. Make it happen, Drewsky. 11 hours is a long fucking time to stand. Fuck, I'll bring a chair if I'm allowed to do so.

So what?! And I read it just fine. I could be let in first, but when I go piss and try to come back what's to say my "spot" is still going to be there? There's going to be pushing, shoving and arguing without seats.

Duh, you have a friend hold your spot up front while you go pee. And if you are with Crazy Debbie, she will tell all the people around you that this is the plan, and she will make friends with all of them so that they think this is a lovely idea, and she will get their life stories and facebook addresses, and she will sell them all lipstick before the 3rd band has their gear loaded in.

What are you complaining about? You're a jillion feet tall and can probably stay home and still see the stage just fine.... and I'm sure you will have no trouble getting back to your spot. You think anyone is gonna pick a fight with you?

What about the little'uns like me? We're the ones that should be worried about that, not you.

lol ... I was speaking for you. I'll be chilling on a bar stool listening to the show. Just don't think that the thought of standing for 20+ hours over 2 days isn't spooking potential ticket buyers. That's tough to do.

I wonder if the venue just doesn't allow for that kind of set up, even if you wanted one like that. It would be cool though. When we went to see Rick Springfield in Tampa a couple months ago, they had a big event tent outside the Hard Rock for him to perform in. It was supposed to be the first so many rows were VIP and had seats, and then the rest behind those seats was supposed to be GA. Well we got stuck with GA tickets since they had sold out of the seats. Turned out they gave all of us seats! That was an intimate kind of setting too.

However, I did manage my way back and forth from the front area, through a huge crowd at the Heart concert at HOB here, 3 times for my bathroom breaks, and I have a way of plowing through a crowd if need be   (If excuse me doesn't work that is   )

I think getting a seat will really help sell those VIP tickets!  And I just think for 10+ hours 2 days in a row that you need seats for those people that want to hear every (or almost every) band. *I* don't. I wanna hear about 6 bands over the 3 days. I'm just being my usual selfess, considerate self. Still going VIP, though, for Drewsky. :)

I can't believe I actually watched that shit tonight. First time I've watched in years. That might even be the first time I've watched LeBron in the all star game. All star games need to be abolished across the board.
