 Hope you're all having a great Valentines day! We can create a holiday for EVERYTHING can't we? Pretty soon, every day of the week will be tied to one. Christmas has already spread to several months, instead of just December. Hell, just go into any store in October!  Don't get me wrong... I LOVE the holidays, but it just cracks me up.

I just can't wait until the "You eat steak and lobster while your wife gives you a massage and beer all day" holiday comes around!

Happy Valentines day everyone.

Well, you know how it goes man! Lots of pressure to measure up to all the other guys trying to do the exact same as us -- make sure their girls don't get destroyed by their peers at the office for not having quite as big a bouquet as the others. Makes us look like apes too if we forget. :) Valentine's Day can be brutal, and there can be a lot of pressure on the girls and guys.

Actually, I love doing it because I know it really means a lot to her, but it's the personal time that means the most to me. We went to see Wolfman (her idea) and she loved it.

Happy V.D. to you too, btw!

I gotta admit (and Jim, no slam at you- this is more about the stuff my Facebook peeps have been saying) I don't get the sudden venom for V day. It's not like it's new! We were giving each other superhero valentine cards and candy hearts back when I was a kid in the 70's ( and way before that I'm sure!) Why now is everyone suddenly so down on it? Is it because of what Christmas has become, and it's just too close in proxemity? We didn't to a ton for each other this year, but I'm like you Rip. I don't begrudge it cause it makes the wife happy.

All holidays have morphed into consumer dominated, guilt-laden, obligation days....original meanings have long since dissipated....

Bla... Bla... Bla.

I love to take my girl out on Valentine's day. Who cares if someone makes some money of it.

Isn't that the truth. I had to leave for the office this morning. I had no cash with me but my wife had snuck into my car early this morning and put a Valentine's Day card on my dash. I opened it and she had put $100 in there. Now I hate the position I'm in because I have to figure out what to get her....after work. And if I don't there will be guilt trip.

LOL! Looks like she gave you the money to buy her gift. Lucky nobody broke into your car. I'd highly suggest something in the $100 price range. Or at least something normally worth $100. :)

Sorry guys, not all women are high maintinence. Dan gave me a bear, and a love song cd. We spent the day together, both of us unfortunately have a cold. We ordered our favorite pizzas, and cuddled and watched tv. Very romantic. :D

That's funny Rip. At this time I'm sure nobody is going to envy my being married to a Filipina. She is a total sweetheart until I forget something like our anniversary, valentine's or her birthday.

Actually, mine's not really high maintenance at all and I'm happy to do it. If I didn't send flowers to the office I wouldn't get hell about it, but she might mention off-hand what some of the other girls got. Regardless of all that, we never forget to celebrate and it's always a very special day.

Hope you get to feeling better!

Vday... bleh. I don't like it. Never really have. If you have no one, it sucks. If you have someone, and they buy you something, you pretty much know they're doing it because they feel obligated (since most don't do stuff like that any other time of the year, "just because"). If they do nothing at all, you feel like hell because they don't care to bother. I've had exactly two Vdays where I didn't feel one of the above 3 ways.

Thanks Rip, we shared the cold as well! LOL!........I do think it is over hyped. What matters is if you have someone special..........spend quality time with them. Romance can be a picnic, or popcorn and TV. Depends on how you look at it.

I don't have a problem with it, never felt like crap one way or the other. It was always a nice day for me when I had a gf. This is my first one in 4 years without a V Day "date" but I'm not bothered. It is nice not to have to worry about anything this year though, I will say that.
