"Tiger Woods apologized to his friends, family, fans and business parters today at a speech in Florida. Woods expressed regret for "irresponsible and selfish behavior. Below are portions of his remarks:

Elin and I have started the process of discussing the damage caused by my behavior. As Elin pointed out to me, my real apology to her will not come in the form of words. It will come from my behavior over time.

...
What we say to each other will remain between the two of us. I am also aware of the pain my behavior has caused to those of you in this room. I have let you down. And I have let down my fans.
...

I have let you down personally and professionally.
...

Elin never hit me that night or any other night. There has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage. Ever. Elin has shown enormous grace and poise throughout this ordeal. Elin deserves praise, not blame.

...

I convinced myself that normal rules didn't apply."

We were listening here in the office. I didn't buy it. :eyeroll: But whatever. He made his bed.
(or at least left it for the maids to make after he and his strippers messed up the sheets.... but again, whatever  )

The only thing he said that made any sense was that this thing was between he and his wife.
It really is. The rest of the word has become way too involved and attached to this.

Didn't buy what exactly? Jesus Christ, the guy fucked up, big time, but what exactly do you want him to do?= don't pass go and head directly to Hell? We get it, you hate Tiger., but for fuck's sake, nobody's perfect. At least he apologized. I hate to compare it to this, but did Neal, Jon, Ross, Deen, Elson and Azoff apologize for what they did to us? I bring that up because it affected all of us on this board...a common denominator if you will, and frankly, what Journey did was a lot worse in that they fucked over the PUBLIC whereas Tiger just fucked over his wife, a PRIVATE matter. I also bring this up because you obviously found it in yourself to forgive Journey, as you go to their shows, buy their music and so on, but when it comes to Woods, you say fuck him.I find this to be very strange on your part. America is a forgiving land; everybody gets a second chance. How about some consistency on your part?

The only thing you just said that made any sense was that this is between Tiger and his wife, yet you feel the need to give your take on this and convict the guy to hell. You're right in the rest of the world is way too attached to this, but you just contradicted yourself aplenty.

What the hell does Journey have to do with it? I went to ONE show for the simple reason that it was a big party with a bunch of friends. Had we partied at a bar or another concert, would not have mattered and I'd have been totally fine not to have gone to that show. And I did NOT buy that album. Someone gave me one, but I was never going to pay money for that and had I not received one, I still would not own it.

What I said about Tiger was that I didn't buy into what he said, but whatever, because it's his own deal and the world is too involved in paying attention to this - yes including every one of us posting in this thread. I didn't condemn him to hell (ok, at least not in THIS thread... lol)

I just said he wasn't sincere. What's the big deal that I said I didn't buy it? He wouldn't be in "therapy" or making apologies had he never been caught. That's why I didn't buy it.

women groups reaction will be key... I think, the PGA doesnt want that at all... if tiger comes back too soon... and at a major event.... and is followed around by groups like NOW protesting their events... because of Tigers behaviors... off the course... WOW. Also...when he does come back to golf... the circus will be incredible, I feel bad for whoever has to be his first playing partner...

I listened on the radio... and felt real at first, but as it went on and on...

His saying he was going to respect the game... and that he thinking he was above the rules... interesting to say the least... will he REALLY CHANGE?? he is only guy who knows...

the marriage stuff is between he and his wife...however, when you are a PUBLIC FIGURE and you have that image YOU created of being WHOLESOME FAMILY DUDE... thats when the private stuff becomes public... I really feel for Tiger an his wife...

just my opinion...

I am anything but a Tiger supporter, I think he's a total scumbag, but the women's groups can go fuck themselves too. Women are unfaithful often as well, just as men are. Furthermore, Tiger didn't hold a gun to those girls' heads. Everybody has this perception "Oh man it's a celebrity, these poor girls just spread their legs without thinking for him." Fuck that, these girls are probably sharper and way more manipulative than Tiger. They knew what they wanted and they knew how to get it.

Well, he needed to make the press conference and address it b/c he hadn't been seen and he had portrayed himself as a family man and used his upstanding image to sell a lot of products and get endorsements. His mea culpa was needed for all of his endorsements and sponsors more than anything to begin rehabilitating his image, b/c he doesn't want to lose that major portion of his income. Once he addresses it in this press conference, I'm sure that will be it for him, and he hopes that will pave the way for him coming back and not have to answer these questions about his private life anymore and just play golf.

Re his apology, I found it sincere. Many people in life would keep doing the same destructive behavior, cheating, drugs, alcoholic, etc, unless and until they hit rock bottom and are faced with losing those they love or whatever the case may be. He's taking a hard look at himself and I'm sure doesn't like what he sees, and time will tell whether he can save the marriage or change, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt that he is sincere.

Hey Kim I wasn't trying to personally run smack at you- I just thought you should take it at face value that's all. The guy is a golf witch- he lives golf. he needs to compete and especially at a Major which is the upcoming masters. He had to start somewhere. That somewhere included the customary "I am sorry" comments. It truly is a personal matter and if Elin can take him back, I don't know why the public cannot accept it and move on. Who really gives a shit what someone does in their private life?

As for the Journey comparison, that too wasn't directly aimed at you, but of most others here. That was a situation where it did affect all of us here, me included. That was far more severe in terms of a public screwing of the pooch than Tiger sinking his meat whistle into 14 bearded axe wounds. The big difference is that although both situations are bad, at least one of the culprits found the balls to apologize while the others hid behind whatever, and pretended everything was just peachy. And yet most here forgave them for that, in that they bought tickets and cd's, even though they were fucked in the ass by Journey. Bewilders me. Still buy a Journey record, but let's not watch Tiger win the Masters out of protest. Huh?

Please accept my apology if you felt I was gunning for you personally. You sure you didn't buy that latest cd?

None of these women were victims. I would highly doubt any women's groups would place these women as victims.

Is this still going on? I turned on the radio this morning and it's a Tiger Woods press conference, blah, blah, blah - didn't he already do this months ago?...I haven't followed this story - all I know is that he cheated on his wife, but why is it still going on? Why is it so public? It should be a private matter between him & his wife, I think...it's like keep on embarrassing the wife.

No Tams- these are the first words spoken by Tiger since "it" happened. The first presser as well. It was the first step on the way back into the spotlight.

It is public because he is the world's most popular athlete by far.

Yeah but that's the thing. It's not about having the balls to step up. He had no other choice. The whole world got involved and he was backed into a corner to say something for the sake of his career and whatever salvagable rep he might still have..

And for the record, if Journey had apologized, I probably wouldn't have bought it either. I mean, neither case, in fact most cases where people lie that way, were situations where they didn't purposely mean to hurt someone. They knew it was hurtful and wrong (both cases) or they wouldn't have covered it up. You know what your doing is wrong in those kinds of situations, that's WHY you cover it up. That's what makes it intentional, so I have a hard time buying the apology after the fact of getting caught. That's all I was getting at.

And it isn't just Tiger. I have no respect or sympathy for all those women he tagged either. They were also fully willing participants in all that bullshittery. Anyone that only goes after Tiger as "the bad guy" isn't playing with a full deck.

I dislike Gloria so much that if she went to trial with one of her clients (which I highly doubt she is capable anymore of trying a case) and I was a juror, I would be hardpressed to award money to her client. The only client I remember of hers that I liked was the girl who turned in Scott Peterson.

of course they will. we've heard all sorts of garbage about all the "groups" that Tiger has hurt,. He supposedly hurt women, hes supposedly hurt , in the words of business week "milions who depended on him spiritually and economically. " Load of shit, no "group" of people was hurt here.
The only two indivudals potentially hurt here is Tiger woods and his wife. Its their business alone.

And for those people who say he sets a bad example thats even a bigger load of nonsense. Hes an entertainer. Folks shouldn't be idolising sports stars, or rock stars, or movie stars. Parents ought to teach their kids to take and example from good leaders, poets, doctors, and soldiers.

Everybody ought to mind their own business, and sit down and teach your kids its not right to go around screwing women that aren't your wife. Would go along way in making the world a better place.

In my experience the more you claim you're a sex addict or drug addict or alcoholic and that you've done wrong and please don't look behind the curtain at all the people i've hurt or damaged in some way; then the more help you need. Cause the damage he's done to his family is by far so much worse than what the press could ever do.

The recovering addict who tells you every opporutnity he gets that he's been sober for 20 days, 6 hours and 3 minutes or that the 10 women he's had relationships with over the last 3 years 5 months and 3 days or the drug he snorted 6 weeks 3 days and 5 hours ago then you know that the slightest wind can knock them off their feet and back on the bar stool or couch or whatever.

Cause you know they're thinking about the high and how good it was and how much they miss it.

It's just more words. It's more pretend. I'm still waiting for the true Tiger to stand up. Talking about your religion, talking about what a good wife she is or mother is something we've always known. I don't think he knows that. It is between he and his family. His first mistake in preparing his image is saying anything at all to us. His second is that speech. He just needs to go away for a year or more; he's got more than enough money. Be a husband and a man and not some egotisical maniac. Be a father.

Oh well, the show must go on.

I wonder how they treat Sex Addiction.

Shock therapy? Visual therapy...make you look at pictures of Rosie O'Donnell while trying to whack off? Show you pics of babes and knock you in the head (either one) with a ball bat when you start to become aroused? I have no idea.

It would suck for any guy to try to get through this though. I have a feeling it is about as successful as trying to change gays from being gay through conseling and therapy. Hopeless.

They treat it like any other addiction, because it's all related. "Detox" and counseling.

OMG, I don't know how to link this video, but Gloria Allred is sitting by porn star Jocelyn James at a press conference saying her client is very upset b/c she got no apology and she gave up her livelihood, being a porn star, for him, bla, bla. The porn star is sitting there in a conservative wig sheading crocodile tears. It doesn't even look real. It looks like SNL skit. Gloria is definitely the scum and how anyone takes her seriously is beyond me.

The US Navy used to put that stuff in its scrambled eggs. I remember when I joined I was dropped off at 430 am at the main gate of Great Lakes Naval Recruit Training Centre . Next thing I know we were led to the galley where we were told. "Uncle Sam loves you so much we promised your mom we'd give you free scrambled eggs every mornin. Eat as much as you can every day. "

We had 83 in our company. not a single soul got a boner for 10 weeks (or thats what everyone said) . Luckly by the time they let me out for my first liberty in Chicago that you ate the frosted flakes and ditched the eggs .
