Steven Tyler rejoins Aerosmith, tour announced

Postby Don » Fri Feb 26, 2010 2:53 am

NEW YORK—After turmoil that included public squabbling, threats of a lineup change and a rehab stint, Aerosmith is back and ready to rock.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have announced their "Cocked, Locked and Ready To Rock" European summer tour—with Steven Tyler.

The band made the announcement Thursday. It also posted a video on its Web site in which Tyler, sitting with the rest of the band, jokes: "I just auditioned and I got the gig."

"We're coming your way and rocking your world! Look out because here we come," he says as he looks at guitarist Joe Perry and the group breaks out in laughter.

Aerosmith, which has been one of rock's enduring bands over the past three decades, has been in limbo since Tyler fell off a stage during an August concert in South Dakota, injuring himself and forcing the band to cancel the rest of their summer tour.

After that, Perry expressed anger that the group had been sidelined and said Tyler needed to get his act together. For his part, Tyler was quoted as saying he was interested in going solo, and soon the band was talking about replacing Perry with another singer.

In December, Tyler checked in to rehab for a painkiller addiction, a problem he blamed on years of injuries suffered while performing with the band.

In an interview this week, bandmate Joey Kramer said: "Everything right now in Aero-land is very copacetic. ... We will carry on and do what we do best."

As far as their latest drama, he said: "The one common denominator that we still all have is that we all love to get up on stage and rock out, play music and bring joy to people. And we let the other drama, as of late, kind of filter itself out by the wayside and concentrate on more of what's important, which is the playing and the business at hand. "

The band, best known for hits like "Walk This Way," has a long history of discord and overcame heavy drug abuse in the 1970s and early 1980s, but has been a mainstay in rock since enjoying a revival more than two decades ago.

Their tour starts in Sweden on June 10.

Yawn. :? He's in, he's out, he's in, he's out, he's talking to the band, he's not talking to the band, they're looking for singers, they're not looking for singers...

Trying to keep up with the Aerosmith drama is just way too exhausting.

So they *might* be going on tour, is what I gather from this story.

Anyone notice the slip up by the writer here? Seems his or her head was with a different singer.

Yep, caught that.  Not even the 1st time I've seen that, though.
The Steve Tyler/Joe Perry thing seems to trip people up, for some odd reason.

Why would you want to graduate from being a loon???? I would think the loons would always want to be in Perry school.

No no no... post all you want about Perry and the music and all that. But if I see any comments about how he looks in shape so he must be "gearing up", or how good he looks in black, or the word "raspy" or "smoky" - or the words "Dodgers" or "Giants".... or asking what that tiny logo on his shirt says (and going on for 6 pages about it), I'm probably gonna come in and make fun.  Just saying.

Yeah, I did, and I was going to post a joke, but I don't know enough about them to know what I'm talking about and I didn't want to be made fun of for not knowing something - like when or why they lost their Overdrive. Just that's how some of these guys roll when people don't know something. :?

With her continuous denials of being a loon, BJG reminds me of Squidward when he kept telling SpongeBob that he hated Krabby patties. Yet, what was he caught doing? Sneaking into the Krabby Patty vault and eating so many patties that his thighs exploded.

Wait a minute, I never said I didn't like the guy. I'm a fan. I just don't particularly care what lenght his hair is or where he lives or what he wears to a ball game or what airports he's hanging out in. That's where the loon line falls.

And why do you guys all keep equating me with Spongebob characters? This is the 2nd time now.
