HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE

The Bad: Unemployed city clerk, yet again. In the meantime the school district where I was placed is about to cut about 900 additional jobs.

The Hopeful: I am placed on a city & county "hold over" list which means they have to find other employment for me at some point. Until then, I will receive unemployment benefits as long as I actively seek employment. One door closes another door opens is all I can say. I'll be fine, we ALL of us will be fine.

My Friday and Weekend activities include: writing, doing back exercises at home, writing, writing, relaxing, writing, writing, repeat.

I just mailed a load of speculative letters asking if there are any part time jobs going.

Gigs are a bit thin on the ground since this credit crunch hit.

My duo [smooth] have got some regular Sunday lunch time gigs at a local restaurant but they can't pay us enough to live on.
Our Agent who usually gets us at least two gigs each week is struggling to get work because the venues he books his Acts in have all cut down on the number of nights they have live entertainment.
We should have been playing at the restaurant tonight, but they haven't got enough reservations for tables so they can't afford to pay us.

So tonight I'm doing nothing. Unless the Agent phones between now and 7pm with a cancellation.

Its very strange. Ive made a living from my singing for over ten years and havent needed a day job, but the gigs seem to be drying up overnight.

Hope things pick up for you too MBPL - and anyone else struggling to make ends meet because of all those greedy bankers who sent our world into meltdown.

Sorry to see about your job loss Lori but it's sure nice to read that your staying smiley about it all.
My weekend plans are to include babysitting my Cousins tonight, mass and confession/first communion
classes tomorrow with our youngest.
Then later that afternoon I will be found in front of the T.V clothed in red and white while holding hopes
that Oh Canada takes the gold!.
Thanks for checking in, always good seeing you Senorita. :)

Writing is good. At least you can let your imagination roam wherever it wishes to be; I always say take the time you have and use it wisely. Trust your instincts and have fun. I'm hopeful something will come up for you; at least you are on the "hold over" list which is good. Take care and keep smiling!
