That headline is misleading.

Richard Belzer Accused of Apple Assault

Seems he assaulted an Apple employee. I was hoping he was assaulting people with apples.
That would have been way more entertaining.

Belzer tells TMZ the drama all started while he was waiting in line at the Apple store in Manhattan. He says a female employee approached him and asked him if he needed help ... so he placed his hands on her shoulders and said he would love some help.

That's when Belzer says she freaked out, called the cops ... and told them he had choked her.

Belzer says cops showed up and took a look at the store's surveillance tape ... and decided the woman's claims were unfounded.

Belzer tells TMZ, "Perhaps I shouldn't have invaded her space, but it was clearly non-threatening."

According to the New York Post, who broke the story, the woman still filed a harassment report against Belzer.

I would have filed a harassment report against him just for saying hello. Can't stand that guy.

Choked her?? Jiminey freakin' christmas.

ok, I can paint this picture in my head. I'm sure that he was being silly. It said there was a line - so you figure he'd probably been waiting for awhile, so the lady comes up and asks if he needs help and he takes her shoulders and says it kind of like "yes I would LOVE that."

No, he shouldn't be touching someone he doesn't know, even if he's kidding around... but come on... does it really sound like any harm was meant? And clearly the police didn't think so either after seeing the tape and getting his statement.

But he's a star, so she probably sees a payday.

The longest running show on TV by a mile I think. Love that show, always will.

BTW, if you're being serious Rick, there's no way you own a TV... you can find at least one Law and Order episode on at least one channel at any time of the day for christ's sake

SVU is the creepiest of them all. I think I watched an episode & a half & I couldn't take anymore of it. It's all about rape crimes & they have their victims describe in s-l-o-w, painstaking detail what the perp did to them or had them do to him. ICK!!! I felt like a dirty old man SLASH pedophile SLASH voyeur after watching that mess. I wondered what kind of kinky nut job enjoys that sickening dialog. I took a shower to wash the heebie-jeebies off of me & said "nevah again!" Roll playing is one thing, but that's just sick. What two people do between themselves.... I'm talking bondage & whatevah, is fine if both agree. But to script an entire show around rape crimes under the guise of being informative when, in fact, it ain't nothing more than titilating amusement for some dirty old man whacking off in his La-Z-boy recliner --- well, that's just too much for me.

Must be a lot of those types then seeing all the #1 ratings it gets. All the new cop/detective/investigative dramas are far more grisly than any of the Law & Orders - Criminal Minds, any of the CSIs... take your pick.

I think you're right... that might be it. Maybe L&O is the longest running drama. I know it's the longest running something, and I'm far too lazy to even go to Google or Wiki right now.

The Simpsons started on The Tracy Ullman show as a segue into commercials. That would have been around 1985 or 1986.

Just think: Back then Perry was still with Journey. Sorta.

Richard Belzer rules! I remember some cable special he did back in the 80's, and I'll NEVER forget the prison skit where he had some bald fat man behind him saying, "Assume the position, Chicken Boy!"

It's a good thing for him the entire thing was caught on a surveillance camera - if the police thought it was nothing after watching the video, chances are less likely she will try to pursue anything in civil court. I remember reading about a guy who won a huge state lottery years back, after which he had nothing but grief. His employees started stealing from him (he continued running his business) and he kept getting sued for the most ridiculous things - everyone was looking to cash in on him.

The Apple Store ought to fire her to prevent civil action. People like her are a threat to society, and bad for business too.

Where is TMZ with that tape, that's what I want to know. I want to see this.
It sounds to me like this Apple employee is the one who needs to be charged with wasting peoples' time.

Rude. I hope you're joking. SVU is the only L&O I watch and I find it incredibly interesting, and usually chillingly acted. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT a legitimate portion of its viewers watch a crime drama to "whack off", especially considering half each episode is court proceedings and main character story arc. Most episodes do not have a perp gleefully describing the acts, and they never show anything happening. Police really do have to deal with cases like these and it's really fascinating to see how it affects the detectives on the show, probably as it does to real life detectives.
