Don't get me wrong i'm thankful for the part time 3rd shift job i have (only 3 days a week which totally sucks) but it just pisses me off that i'am unable to find a full time job anywhere and i mean ANYWHERE. I haven't had a full time job in almost two years and i've already lost hope that i will have one again. Anyone else have the same problem? Sorry guys just venting.

I know the feeling. Trust me, you'll get out of it. I went throught the same thing from July 2006 to March of 2008 and it was awful. And from March to October '08, I was with a temp agency, which was fine financially, but the 1st place they sent me I couldn't stay with because management wouldn't approve the conversion cost (to pay the temp place) to keep me, but I loved it there and they loved me, so it was epic suck to have to give that one up...

Then the temp place sent me to a new place which was just awful because the job was insanely BORING and the boss was a bipolar anal retentive sea hag bitch. And believe me, I'm being very nice in that description. It was SO bad with her that I called the temp place and said "Seriously, GET me out of here." I kid you not, this was the reply I got "Ok, tell me what's going on - and before you say anything, I'm pretty sure I know what you're going to say, but go ahead..." Oh yeah, they knew all about this woman (from previous temp employees).

The next place was even more boring. The people were very nice but the job bored me to tears. After a few weeks there, my boss from the first place (the one I wanted to stay with but couldn't) emailed me that she was leaving that location for another property and wanted me to come with her. And since it wasn't the same property, or even the same brand, (even though it's the same management), that was our way around the temp agency thing (becasue they do check).

Right situation / right time. It will happen, nightbull. I felt the same way, I thought it was never going to turn around.

There is no recession when it comes to dying. Check with the Cemetery. Forest Lawn is always hiring, full and part time. I know the one's around here (Glendale/Burbank) pay from 12 to 15 dollars for basic skilled, non experience positions.

Actually no it's getting better. Signs point to a more vibrant recovery. It won't be long until the economy is back to full strength.

PS- You get your sodium today? blech.

If you're really hard up, become a flashlight cop. Along with healthcare/ death , that's another industry always hiring full time.

What job markets are getting better? Just curious. Not being political, but absolutely no professional job market is anywhere near "getting better" right now.

The technology market is hiring. ATT and Disney are both offering positions in various computer related fields, with great pay and benefits.

Did you try the gigolo market?

Seriously dude, I feel your pain, you're just a little younger than me... it's not easy for people our age right now. We're probably only slightly better off than the people who lose their jobs at an old age where other companies will be reluctant to hire them.

Just keep your head up, it'll get better. It sounds really cliche and is certainly cold comfort, but the best thing you can do right now is to not get discouraged and bitter. People will pick up on that in an interview or interaction in a business setting, whether it's making sandwiches at Subway or trying to snag a job doing rocket science.

I was gonna suggest erotic dancing b/c I make close to the same working part time at that than I do full time waiting tables & private parties help alot b/c that's where the big money is. Still, waiting tables pays excellent if you apply at the right establishment & service your customers with the right attitude. There are always jobs in that field. It pays even more if you can juggle or do something else equally talented, but that's a whole other chapter.

The job itself is not that difficult, busy, but not difficult. You just gotta remember to smile, be personable & no matter how many times a customer sends something back to the chef, you keep your focus on customer satisfaction. Their concerns, are your concerns b/c the customer is always right. Plus, it's the "little" things that mean the most. Never let them run out of coffee, tea or mixed drinks .... make sure they have plenty of condiments, napkins, silverware & so forth ..... offer freshly grated cheese & don't forget to replenish the warm rolls fresh from the oven ..... clear away plates ..... use common courtesy, "please," "thank you," & "you're welcome" go a long way in the service industry. You don't hafta be sickeningly sweet, but it also doesn't hurt to make them want you for their son-in-law. And if they bring out the photos in their wallet & want to show you their grandchildren, be respectful & listen to their stories. I work in a high-end restaurant located inside of a world renowned hotel & so 99% of my clientele are people who are there for a special event: honeymoon, work-related seminar, vacation... We do get walk-ins who live in the surrounding area, but even then, they are there b/c of a special event: It's grandma's 100th birthday & the family has saved all year to treat her to a nice night of live theater & a really expensive dinner. That night, this grandma is your grandma too.

Sorry, for getting carried away. It's just that I love my job. Can you tell? I'll shut up now.

I was going to suggest a restaurant. My neighbor's son is working at just a casual restaurant chain, Chili's, while in college, and he's making very good money.

I spent $65,000 on a Bachelors degree from Penn State and the only job I could find was a shitty $9/hour factory job. Even had to move back home because there wasn't enough left after student loan payments for rent. Never thought I'd be living at home again at 26 years old. I didn't dedicate 5 years of my life to a college education to do low paying factory shit for a living.

Nope, that can't be fun & it must create some problems in your love life.

If my mom had her way I'd be living at home myself. She thinks I'm too young to live on my own.

That why I'm choosing not to date until I can find a better job which will enable me to move into my own place. Living at home at my age isn't exactly a turn on for most women.
