No Inflation My Ass!

I'm sick of the economic lying going on. Govt claims there is hardly any inflation out there. Screw them. Here's my example:

Bought a box of Dove Bars for the wife today while shopping. Looked at the box and said WTF? There are only 3 bars in the box for $4.39 when there were 4 just two weeks ago. Not only less bars but the bar size went down from 3 oz to 2.89 oz.

So, $4.39/12 oz = Old Price $0.365 per oz, $4.39/8.67 oz = New Price $0.506 per oz.

An increase of ------ 38.5 percent !!

Yes thats right, 38.5% all at once.

Now wages are falling in this economic mess, but food, one of the staples that we need (although we can live without Dove Bars) is increasing like this!

Yeah, I know, the price is the same so it really didn't cost more. Just another example of how hidden inflation works. Wife says screw em. No more Dove Bars for her.

Sorry, had to rant after shopping today

Years ago food manufacturers did this with all kinds of product. They kept the can & bag the same size while the weight went down and the price stayed the same and then eventually the price still went up. Only buy what is on sale with coupons when possible. It is the only way to win. Look at shopping as a game, a war game. There is something so rewarding (cheap) about getting something on sale for $ 1.00 less.

Fuck you SJ. I'm buying food for a family of 5! The weekly bill is up to $250 a week from $210 a week not that long ago. If I cut anymore food out we won't be a bunch of fat fucks anymore!

I'm sure there's plenty of other items pulling the same shit. I just happened to notice how blatant it was with this item.

Dude, your avatar has always creeped me out. On a serious note, I work the night crew at a major supermarket chain, and you are so correct. There is deception going on with 80% of the items in the store. Squirt was right though, if you can use coupons while the product is on sale, it's worthwhile. Many peeps however, think just because you use a coupon and you save bank, but you have to do it while the product is on sale to make hay.

I can't leave the supermarket checkout spending less than $26 everyday! - I used to be the queen of coupons getting a whole bunch of free or cheap stuff but now even coupons don't make much of a dent in the bill...and Whole Foods got it's nickname "whole paycheck" for a reason. Prices on everything are inflating to outlandish proportions - makes you wonder where does it stop :?

My avatar can't creep you out as much as the rabid GOP zombies on this board!

Coupons are kinda hit or miss. Sometimes even with coupons, the store brand is cheaper. I just try to buy what's cheapest but this deception shit just frosts my ass. Like we are all too stupid to notice

Just busting your balls, Brian. Glad you saw it that way, man. 5 people? Yeah, then I can see why you would notice the small things that I take for granted. Good luck, and the best to you and your family.

Apologies, Ed. I was thinking of :"CrazyScarab" I think. The sentiment still stands, though. :)
