Dixie Chicks to Tour with Keith Urban, Eagles

Postby DrFU » Wed Mar 17, 2010 9:41 am

Now here's a creative tour package:
=====
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — All three members of the Dixie Chicks, including lead singer Natalie Maines, are heading out in June on a one-month stadium tour with The Eagles and Keith Urban.

This marks the first time in four years that the Chicks will take the stage on tour together.

Their first show with The Eagles kicks off in Toronto on June 8. Urban joins both acts two nights later in East Rutherford, N.J. They all will continue on to Boston, Philadelphia, Washington and Chicago, with the last two dates — June 22 in Winnipeg, Canada, and June 24 in St. Louis — featuring only the Chicks and The Eagles.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on March 29.

The Dixie Chicks haven't released any new music since their Grammy-winning 2006 album, "Taking the Long Way."

Hm, seems weird that The Eagles would share the bill with anybody at this point. Oh well. Dixie Chicks are totally irrelevant minus their controversial political comments. Urban is solid for what he is. Eagles are legends.

Dixie chicks are amazing, great music, songs, and stunning harmony. Keith Urban isn't just country, does some bluesy rock, and puts on a great show, mixes it up. and, of course, the eagles are the eagles. 8) Great, interesting lineup.

That sounds like a great show, but I'm not going to Winnipeg! I can't believe it's been 4 years since Taking the Long Road came out.

Christ almighty Jana. You are into some great music and you've linked me to some good stuff before, but this stuff is total insipid crap. It sounds like Sheryl Crow with a bit of a twang, and that ain't a good thing! Got a better song by them to share? This is like the fourth song I've heard by them and a fourth strike.

OH and BTW, I love country/country rock music, so that's not it.

I don't love country (but i like the award shows  ), but I love a little here and there. and very few female country singers. My sister bought me faith hill for christmas a few years ago and I told her I couldn't believe she bought me something like that. i gave it back. but i love old school reba mcintyre (go figure) and i have a little of the dixie chicks. i just like their harmony and her unique voice and their banjos and stuff. maybe more women like them than men would probably. I don't own any sheryl crow. i can't get into her.

Anyone read Don Felder's book? Henley and Frey are some greedy bastards. I wouldn't take free VIP tickets to sit through this one.

yeah, they're big time assholes who also hate each other. Felder got a raw deal. But, this book is even better for the "inside" Eagles story over the years:

http://www.amazon.com/Limit-Untold-Stor ... 966&sr=8-1

An incredible read, detailing all the drug abuse, the wrecked hotel rooms, clashing personalities, critical scrutiny, and even the good times. Probably one of the best music books I've ever read - and I've read a lot. Sterling Whitaker's "Grand Delusion" is an incredible read too:

I would love to see this show but if the Dixie Chicks go first, I'd show up when Eagles or Keith come on. If DC's played in the middle, I guess I would go have dinner and take a crap. Can you tell I have a real strong desire to see the Dixie Chicks?

Irrelevant? The Dixie Chicks are awesome. Have you ever seen them? They can flat out sing and play. I think you are being a bit harsh here. Hell, there are a lot of bands that are irrelevant. I would wager that the Chicks could outsell Journey nowadays. It would be pretty close. Perhaps they shouldn't have run smack on W; the reason being that they were overseas when they did it. That's the only reason. It probably wasn't the smartest thing to do either, being that most of their fans come from redneck sister/brother fucking red states. That really hurt them. However, I can't see how saying they aren't talented holds water. It's like when 7 Wishes ran smack on Brad Paisley saying he couldn't strum the guitar. He was way off on that one.

Agreed, Natalie has a stunning voice. Her and Martina McBride have amazingly powerful emotive voices.

When did I say they aren't talented? I'm not THAT familiar with them because what I've heard hasn't made me want to go any farther in investigating them! Their music bores me. I don't care who they could or couldn't outsell, if that were the barometer, fuck me Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus are the two best artists of all time.

If I underestimated their popularity, I apologize. I've just never heard them mentioned that often aside from the W comment backlash a few years back. Didn't hear of them all that often before those comments either.

Anyway, I still won't be dying to hear anything they play. Vanilla stuff to me.

after the w backlash they came out with a grammy nominated album, and they were hurt by what she said, but vindication was the album. they always take time off b/c of having babies. I have the live dvd of their concert and love it. may not be for everybody, but the vocals and all the different string instruments are amazing on it. go back in my earlier post and watch the sin wagon video. it may not be for you, but you can't help but appreciate all the musicians playing on that song.
