Extremely mediocre. You need to, if allowed, incorporate every recognizable radio hit into that commercial that's gonna be performed at the fest. Nobody knows, or cares, about Talon, Eden's Curse, Far Cry or Bombay Black. People wanna be able to say "Oh, the guys that sing that song!" and that commercial isn't doing it. Now, if your hands are tied about using some or all of the Survivor, Alias and Danger Danger songs, then the commercial is probably as good as is allowable.

I think considering the audio clip Gary was given , he did an EXCELLENT job. If you think this was mediocre , then you didn't see my video

I do get what you're saying though. But an ad like that would be a 5 min ad , not a minute o three. ;)

Dude, you medley the fucking songs together. You're looking at a 3 minute commercial ... tops.

PS Fuck you, Phyllis.

By the way, yes, Schutt did a very nice job making the video. That wasn't my criticism.

The video footage/editing is great, very professional. I'm with Dan though, more songs need to be featured for the casual viewer who stumbles on the ad. A lot of these bands are in the "Oh, I forgot they did that song" column to the average viewer/listener. Remind them!

I'd also like to add one other thing - instead of a chronological listing of the bands, you gotta get the bigger names up front and sit there on the screen a few seconds longer. We're assaulted with Talon, Far Cry, Eden's Curse, and the like before we see that bigger names like Jim Peterik, Jimi Jamison, and Winger are gonna be there.

Fuck me. Always could/would/should have done better eh?

I have a different audio grab to run at radio that includes more music. So just support the show and get on with it.

Like the U.S. Army says ... "Be all you can be." And I feel like the criticism was constructive. That is supporting the show and this site. Saying "Yippie hippie. That was great, Andrew!" when I don't think it was, doesn't do you you a damned bit of good. Now lube up!

Well shit Deb, you want him to play side twe, 4th song on whomever's cd? Come on? Dan is right on this one. The listener needs to hear a recognizable tune, if there are any. Gary is pretty sharp though, and I imagine he did what he was asked to do. I get what Dan is saying, however, not to contradict myself, this isn't a Journey ad, where you simply string hit songs together. it's an eclectic bill, with some if not most bands being complete unknown to the radio/youtube listener. Having said that, I would ditch the voice over and do it with a live voice, one that can accentuate emotion, highs and low;s and be a little more fluid. Make the damned thing 2 1/2 minutes and make it thorough. This one is ok, but I don't think it gets to the listener any real convincing information. I would definitely playu a Rock sugar tune, probably the DSB/Matallica one, as that would pull the listener right off the bat. Gary is no doubt ably skilled and I bet if Andrew allowed him to freelance it, it would be better. Nowe mind you, I am NOT criticizing Andrew's work here nor his idea. Just offering constructive criticism.

What says you Mac, give it to Gary again, give him some flexibilty on it, and add more songs. No? Hell, I will do the voiceover. :) Just let me get a RobbieG blast in there at some point.

No no no. Not at all. it's great as is. We are being or trying to be constructive, NO negativity here. You asked for an honest review and got it. Not to worry, it passed with flying colours.

You know what though dude, make a few of them. Why not? That way if someone leaves off a word in the tags, he or she will still get to a video anyway, and if they are all a little different, then good, you covered more angles that way. Thoughts?

Oh gawd...

Sorry man, but me and Dan are so on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to music (except for the odd flukes like TMG, etc. ) and I sooooo don't choose my music by radio play. Hell, if I did I probably wouldn't be such a big Mr Big fan still......To Be With You (#1 radio hit in many countries) is probably one of my least favorite songs of theirs. And Drew's already got radio hits from the head liners. What, you want him to put a song from each of the others too?
