Hey, just curious- what's the cover band scene like in your area?
Do peeps in your area, including you maybe, go out to see dance bands playing covers at local bars.
Is it usually a dead house, crowded house (ooh, they were great!) or what?

Just curious.

Up where I live, I do this on the weekends and the cover scene here has really changed over the past few years, so I was curious what it was like in your area. Maybe I'll move there!!! (just kiddin')

well of the ones i've been to - always crowded. a lot of cover bands play around here and a lot of places feature them.

Gary Schutt plays here in FL with Bark At The Moon, an Ozzy cover/tribute band. Only been to one show so far, when 2 TX ladies from here were in Daytona a few weekends ago, we met them there and had a blast. It was a bit crowded, but it was also biker week, lol.

80s tribute acts always do great here in Cleveland - from Frontiers to this act called the "Mega 80s" which plays everything from A-ha to ZZ-Top... those kinda groups always pack the House of Blues. Bars do a great business with more local cover bands too. The 80s cover bands by far draw the best, but there is definitely a great market for 70s bands too.

Cleveland is a VERY GOOD classic rock town... ask any one who has played it, like Jeremey.

There are 532 professional Cover Bands in Los Angeles, give or take a few. I guess there is a market for it here.

Chicago and suburbs are what I'm referring to with the bands and places... 7th Heaven is one (thought their own material is pretty good too!). Some of the other ones I've been to are Infinity (that one packed the house). Hi Infidelity and 16 Candles (their show seems to pack up pretty well too - they have this whole big act that goes along with the sining/playing - it's pretty wild). There's a Rush cover band that I almost went to see last year... I remember thinking "man, that's kind of far to go..." so I didn't... and funny story - it was the Roadhouse where MRF is next month )

Very cool. Good to know that some places are doing good business in the cover scene.

Cover bands in my area absolutely suck and are mostly goat raper music. Most who can sort of sing just graduated from karaoke. The only bars worth going to here are sports bars, but the food, drinks and big screen TVs are the highlights.

I almost forgot - I haven't seen these guys yet - but there's a Chicago band called Tributosaurus.

Their act changes all the time... the current one they are doing is "One Hit Wonders of the 70s" .
Sometimes they are a Zeppelin tribute... sometimes Tom Petty... Beatles... they do it all.

yeah, I checked out their web site. That'd be a TON of work to do something different (on that scale) each month, but way cool too.
