Childhood heroes

Postby Peartree12249 » Tue Apr 06, 2010 10:20 am

I was watching AMC today and they had a brief feature about John Wayne. I grew up in the era of the western and I still love them to this day. (too bad they don't make many of them anymore) John Wayne was my hero as a kid. He's still my favorite movie actor and the only celebrity I wish I could have met although I did speak to him over the phone once. Who were your favorite actors, musicians, sports figures you idolized as a kid?

My Hero was The Lone Ranger. I used to get up early and watch the test pattern on the TV until the show would come on....

My very first hero was the Cookie Monster. At three, I was in awe of his over the top personality and eating style. Mamma had a pretty hard time at meals for about 3 months until we came to a compromise - I was allowed to be a Cookie Monster, but not a Spaghetti Monster, Mashed Potato Monster, Soup Monster, etc.

Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Yawn

When you only have six T.V stations, no internet, computer, mp3 player or video game console, Ultraman isn't anything to yawn about.
