you're full of crap. YES we need sun fir vitamin D. No we do not need to tan. I live in Florida and my incidental sun I receive is plenty. From what I've read 15 min a day or so is plenty of sun. They never tell you to "tan" yourself when you are getting your sunlight. The incidence of skin cancer in Florida is pretty big. Plus I don't want to look 70 when I'm 50you're still young, so I'll give you a pass on this one. But you will regret it someday when those wrinkles kick in. Oh, but on a guy they are distinguished I bet

Here, from the NIH (national institute of health) one of MANY places you can find this info on vitamin D... I will provide the link too:
approximately 5-30 minutes of sun exposure between 10 AM and 3 PM at least twice a week to the face, arms, legs, or back without sunscreen usually lead to sufficient vitamin D synthesis and that the moderate use of commercial tanning beds that emit 2%-6% UVB radiation is also effective [10,33]. Individuals with limited sun exposure need to include good sources of vitamin D in their diet or take a supplement.

No, tanning is not basic sun exposure and there is question as to whether 30 min without sunscreen could increase your skin cancer risks. So it's better to get the minimum than to go for that "healthy but I'll look like I have leather for skin when Im 50" look.
You grew up in a country that has sunlight probably 1% of the year. We laugh at people like you who come to disney world looking like ghosts who have red paint streaked on them from their lack of realization their skin can't handle the florida sun WITHOUT sunscreen. You can ALWAYS point out the Europeans, and no not just from their funny clothes and shoes![]()
