Punk Goes Classic Rock Album Trailer (Hot Topic)

"Punk Goes Classic Rock" — a selection of the best up-and-coming alternative rock bands, including MAYDAY PARADE, THE ALMOST, FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS and NEVER SHOUT NEVER, doing their own cover versions of classic tracks by such bands as JOURNEY, QUEEN, KISS and DEF LEPPARD —sold 15,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Released on April 27 via Fearless Records, "Punk Goes Classic Rock" is the ninth in the series of the highly-successful "Punk Goes..." compilation series that has already sold over 600,000 albums and 1.5 million singles over the past decade.

Over the past ten years, the "Punk Goes..." series has become an internationally recognized brand, with past compilations featuring name acts such as THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS, GYM CLASS HEROES, JACK'S MANNEQUIN, THRICE, ALL TIME LOW, and PLAIN WHITE T'S. Past compilations include "Punk Goes Pop 1" and "Punk Goes Pop 2", "Punk Goes Acoustic" and "Punk Goes Crunk".

I read about this on the noticeboard this morning. Rocknut mentioned that "Pour Some Sugar On Me" reminds him of how the song might have sounded without Mutt's input. Rocknut's opinion is that the CD is pretty good if you're open to it and not stuck on the "sacriledge" of some of these songs being redone. And I must say that when I saw "Bohemian Rhapsody" on the list that was the first thing to come to mind.

I will buy it. Nice twist on some of the songs, it will be a fun listen.

Thanks for this. Love it and ordered it already. Not sure if I like the Journey cover too much, but so far "Pour Some Sugar" and "Free Fallin" are awesome!
