I doubt it. I don't think anyone in their right fucking mind thought this team was championship caliber. They're somewhere between good and very good, but nothing more. If you're a Cavs fan tonight did nothing more than put an end to the 4-0 beatdown Orlando would have put on them. I don't think they would have been within 10 points in any game. I still laugh when I think about how many games the Cavs won in the regular season. The NBA is complete shit, save for LA and Orlando. Lebron better than Kobe? At least those arguments will finally be over ... not they every really (rationally) started.

Don't write off Boston...Orlando beat a team without Garnett last year....Rondo is twice as good, and KG is healthy...

Good points, Dan. I agree. Watching Cleveland go down time and time again is something that's becoming fairly familiar. LeBron can dance around the floor like an idiot, call himself the Chosen One and King James and block shots like a gorilla all he wants, he'll never sniff KoBe Bryant status ever in his career.. that dude is the ultimate team player. James has IT... but Bryant has a different kind of IT that just can't be matched by a player with a different style.

Apologies. I should have included Boston, too. They play TEAM basketball, have tons of leadership, and the heart of champions. And they also have an excellent coach.

LeBron quit and the team followed suit.

Last year against Orlando was like watching a relative who kept himself in great shape his whole life die of a sudden heart attack - totally unexpected, totally insurmountable, and totally frustrating, as we just couldn't quite match up even though we played well until LeBron quit in game 6 with 2 quarters to go. This year was more like watching someone waste away from cancer before mercifully passing.

I get a lot of flak from other Clevelanders, as I've obviously been cheering for the guy and the team, but not for the man himself, but the fact of the matter is is that the kid is fuckin Dominique Wilkins or Patrick Ewing with an asshole streak. The team had no heart and that's mostly on LeBron being too busy trying to make himself into a billionaire rather than worrying about getting rings. This team was plenty talented enough to take out any team, and now all the revisionists inside and outside Cleveland want to make it into another "Oh it was Lebron on 5" thing again. Coaching played a big role in it, matchups to a much lesser extent, and LeBron himself to a huge extent. He may be injured pretty badly, I don't know. But, the fact of the matter is that while LeBron may make guys around him a LOT better in many ways, he also makes them worse in significant ways.

The kid just doesn't get it. Any one who watched the now infamous press conference after game 5 could see all the worst parts about LeBron personally, and it was pretty much "Every reason why this immense talent hasn't won a ring in 7 years explained in 10 minutes." He was too busy playing coy with the big markets, holding our team hostage and warding off good free agents we had the financial means to pick up the last 2 years, and now people want to complain he allegedly didn't have talent around him. The guy has enough narcissism to make a sociopathic serial killer blush. Yes, he's a great player, but he hasn't done shit until he wins a ring. Unfortunately, the kid. just. doesn't. get. it. This is what happens when you hand an 18-year-old kid a $90 million shoe contract and call him the "King." In LeBron's mind, he already won just by being LeBron. On the court, he's Dominique Wilkins or Pat Ewing until further notice. I just do not see him ever winning a ring unless he has a second bona fide superstar to match alpha dog status with. Hell, I think he's a much better player than Dwight Howard, but I don't think he'd do as well with the Magic core as Dwight Howard has done. In fact, I don't even think he'd come close.

I don't want him to leave, as it will be devastating not just for the team, but for the city financially, as the Cavs really provide a huge boost to our winter economy and get people to brave the snow, slippery roads, and cold to get down there and spend money downtown. But, personally, I can think of few athletes I dislike more. KG might be a dirty player with a punk mouth, but goddamn do I love the intangibles he brings to the table for his team. I come from a sport where any one's heart is readily on display - you cannot hide behind a teammate when you have an off day - it's all heart in my sport. So, it really kills me when I see heartless athletes in any sport. That's what I saw from LeBron... and his teammates couldn't recover. Anytime you are the best player on the court/field, your enthusiasm or lack thereof trickles down to the rest of them. Arguably, it shouldn't be that way with professionals, but it's basic human nature.

He'll either stay with Cleveland, or head to Chicago or New York. July 1st starts the free agency period. Imagine a Jordan wannabe in Chicago? He'd forever be play second fiddle and hear the non-stop comparison's to Jordan and championships if he heads to the Bulls. Talk about pressure? New York would be the best place for him if he decides to leave Cleveland.

He's a moron if he goes to Chicago, as he will ALWAYS be second fiddle to Jordan no matter what he does. He apparently feels lots of pressure now.. just imagine driving by a Jordan statue on your way to every home game. lol. If I were him and wanted to leave, New Jersey/Brooklyn would be my best bet. Good young core, KGB Russian scumbag owner, and shitty east coast fans who will turn on you in one fell swoop.

LeBronze, LeBrick, LeChoke, LeBrondo, LeCryBaby, LeQueen,...hahahahaa. LeBron have a lot of aliases from sarcastic fans out there. It's funny how fans can easily crucify him using these names. Seriously, does he care of winning a championship? I think so, but he wasn't capable of, he can't do it by himself. Shaq is old and slow, Varejao is inconsistent, Mo Williams suck and Jamison was AWOL in the playoff, and of course they need to get rid of their coach.

But I disagree to some critics that he's overrated, he's still an excellent player, young, athletic and he can beat Kobe one on one on the court. But it's all about a team basketball and winning it by heart. He can't win a championship with his sidekick. Give him a decent center like Gasol or a good power forward like Nowitzki and he'll be alright. BTW, I really want the Celtics and the Lakers going at it in the Finals, and I'm sure Kobe wants some revenge, still fresh in his mind the embarassing loss 2 seasons ago in the Finals.

Ewing never had much talent around him, and he had the heart of a lion. He was a warrior - he was basketball's Andre Dawson. In no way, shape, or form was he a talented egomaniac.

Now, Greg Kite, on the other hand...
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

IMO, as good as the Magic have looked, this is the Lakers' repeat to lose this year. It wouldn't shock me at all to see the Celtics shock the magic. I do think the Magic are a better team, but then, the Cavs were the better team as well.
