There's a bunch of rumors going around the internet that Ronnie James Dio has passed away. I know these rumors went around 6 months ago too.

I've been reading posts on other music sites and then on Twitter, but nothing official yet. So I have no idea.

Sheesh, I hope these are just rumors.

Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal is reporting this also.

His official site just went down about 20 minutes ago and 2 more that reported the news.

I wonder if they're updating the information.

The sites are crashing from all the hits. It could still be a bad joke, someone started the same rumor before last year.

Its all over on the conversations on Facebook also, but still no one knows for sure. I only hope it is just that a rumour.

Contrary to published reports, legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) **has not** died after a six-month battle with stomach cancer.

After rumors started circulating via the Internet late Saturday that Dio had lost his cancer fight, BLABBERMOUTH.NET reached out to Ronnie's wife/manager Wendy Dio, who sent back the following message at approximately 11:35 p.m. PST on Saturday, May 15 / 2:35 a.m. EST on Sunday, May 16:

"I am at the hospital and Ronnie has NOT passed away!!!! He is not doing
good, but he is not dead.

"I will let you know if anything changes.

"Thank you for your concern."

I didn't think it was true since I couldn't find any reliable source anywhere in the news that he passed away, just on music sites and on Facebook.

I hope his health improves.

I just saw both sites too. If it's not true then i'm glad. How sick is it to post that someone is dead when it's not true? Ugh. People. I actually didn't even know he was sick.

When I first heard about this rumor was earlier this morning when one of local radio stations posted his passing on Facebook, and you know, it spread like wild fire. Now I'm reading it started when someone posted it on Metal Underground, then it was posted on Wikipedia and then spread to everyone's Twitter and posted more on Facebook.

As all this was going on I kept checking all the news sites and read nothing.

I feel bad starting this thread at that time, but I wanted to know if anyone on here heard at the time if it was true.

Now I have the song "Rumors in the Air" by Night Ranger in my head!

People were doing the same thing with Patrick Swayzee (hope I spelled his name right!). There are some very cruel people out there. Imagine struggling with cancer and hearing reports about your own death. I hope he's being shielded from all of this, and isn't aware of it. Of course if he's really not doing well, he may be beyond the ability to even really communicate. Either way, it's very sad. It'll be a big loss to the music world, and he was definitely one of a kind.

I doubt he's aware of it, but it sure can't be great for his family. I agree, it's terrible.

God i wish he can slay this damn cancer dragon and the rumours don't come true...vamos ronnie!!

I just started a new thread that he did pass away this morning. Those that posted the information earlier jumped the gun, which is sad and he passed away after all those rumors were going around.

I don't know how to close or delete this thread.
