Counterparts, Vapor Trails, and Snakes & Arrows left me scratching my head....while T4E, Roll the Bones, and Presto are the ones I revisit most often....I'm a fan who likes the deep cuts. I remember before S&A came out they played 25 sec. Or so teaser clip from 'Far Cry'. It was all instrumental...and the last note was something you would have heard on Hemispheres, Cygnus x-1, or 2112. And fans were creaming in their pants saying 'Rush is back to the classic style!!' When the album finally dropped it was such a disappointment...

Everything these guys used to touch was gold(in the 70's and 80's) ....now they are just old

I really liked Counterparts...Still do....But VT and S&A left me feeling a bit empty.

I actually really like S&A, and the songs from VT go over very well live. The production on that album was horrible, though, as has been well documented...

I agree on both accounts with DNA. Although I'd say I liked S&A, not "really liked."

That's interesting because I thought from the first time I popped it in it was way too muddy and bassy, but never saw any other opinions about it. I need to look that up. Still love the first song and especially "Earthshine" - that one really has the classic Rush sound.
