Wild Weather Last Night

Postby Peartree12249 » Wed Jun 23, 2010 11:09 am

We dodged a bullet last night. Severe thunderstorms in SE Wisconsin turned into an F2 tornado that passed within 2 miles of our house.

Here is some raw chopper footage of "Old World Wisconsin". My husband works there part time as an historical interpreter. The area with all the downed trees was a beautify grove of mature pine trees that surrounded the visitor parking lot. This is about 3 miles from our home.

As bad as this looks, it can't compare to those F4 & F5 monsters folks get out in the plains states. Good news only property damage no one injured. Amazing!

I live on the north west side of milwaukee all we got was lightning and thunder last night nothing serious. The local news was covering it till 1:00 in the morning, it was depressing to see those images of houses destroyed in the morning news cast, i thought i was watching the movie twister. I'm just glad there were no fatalities. They really need to figure out why the sirens didn't go off.

My husband just returned home from helping his niece's husband cut down a damaged tree in their yard. He told me her ex's house in Eagle was heavily damaged. He was sleeping with headphones on and didn't hear the neighbor calling him. When he finally woke-up and answered the phone, the guy told him to get in the basement NOW. As he was running through the house, a 2x4 shot through the kitchen window and almost hit him in the head. It's now buried in his kitchen wall. His house has 2x 4s from his neighbor's house embedded in the back wall.

I'm so proud of the people in my community! Nobody is on TV crying and complaining, waiting for the government to fix everything. They're all just grateful to survive and are rolling up their sleeves to help each other. The fire chief lost his home and first call after the storm he had to rescue his own wife & kids trapped in the house after it was leveled. He's still calm and smiling.
