Sorry, this is about specific Sharia law how? It's a law against distributing pamphlets, ffs! It's hardly advocating the stoning of adulterers (which is biblical law, too, btw.)

I want to know, what the hell is going on that a group of Christians specifically targetting a festival celebrating a different religion are getting their panties in a twist about their constitutional rights for. Somehow, I don't see the same reaction here if they were targetting a Jewish festival.

Speaking from a christian perspective, those guys were not acting Christ like. They were being confrontational. They knew if they went there they would not be welcomed. It was a celibration for arabic and muslim belieiving people. That would be as bad as a muslim going into a church and passing out muslim pamplets. It was not done in a proper spirit, it was just to adjitate these people. I think they acted rudely, and I am glad the officers took it upon themselves to ask them to leave.

Freedom of expression of religion is for the muslims too. Remove their rights, and you remove rights of all faiths.

The fact is that religious belief has a profound effect on your thoughts on your life. Especially when you believe such fanatical and hateful things that many believers do, Islamist especially. Sam Harris says through his book, that extreme beliefs move interchangeably through every person's thoughtpattern. Extreme beliefs begets extreme actions, which in essence describes Religion in a nutshell. So to keep religion out of politics is almost impossible, even in a secular state.

Arianddu is spot on by the way. This is not about Sharia.

This country should shut down every mosque there is and tell the Muslims to get the fuck out. The country would be far safer and smell better.

You might as well throw away the constitution while you're at it. We should have freedom of religion as long as it's not a fucked up religion. We fucked up by importing these whack jobs. Our government has let us down.

The Mormons and the JWs don't go blowing up anything or anyone they don't agree with. They also have more respect for women and don't make them wear ridiculous costumes in public. :P

You obviously ignore any part of an argument that might make you think.

It's a deliberately provocative beat-up trying to create an illusion of something that isn't there. If you're going to scream that this is Sharia law opperating in Michigan, you might want to consider that outlawing murder, theft and the use of illicit drugs is also applying Sharia law. Preventing people handing out pamphlets, especially when they are deliberately and obviously doing so to cause a scene, is hardly the law enforcement agencies of Michigan suddenly adopting Sharia law over US law. Any idiot can tell that the cops aren't reacting because these people are 'attempting' to convert muslims (which I don't for a moment think is what they actually intend to do), they are reacting to a group of people deliberately targetting another group of people in a provocative manner and trying to cause a scene. And those same cops will be applying laws already in place to do so.

Here's a little piece I keep remembering from the Bible, one of those verses I keep wondering why people ignore so much: Love your enemy. Actually, it's so good, the Bible says it more than once -
Matthew 5:44 "But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you"
Luke 6:27 "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you"
Even Romans 12:20 gets in on the theme "But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink" although it does go on to say that by doing so you'll heap coals on his head; I've always assumed that was metaphorical for 'make him feel shitty for his bad behaviour' rather than a more literal meaning.

What Christian perspective are you talking about? Christ said to spread the word across the land. Shine his light into the darkness. That's about as Christ like as you can get.
artist4perry wrote:They were being confrontational.

Yeah, they really got in people's grills and really intimidated them didn't they. On a public city street no less.
artist4perry wrote:They knew if they went there they would not be welcomed.

Whether they are welcomed by all is irrelevant, they have a Constitutional right to stand there and hand out literature. The Constitution is the law of the land (supposedly) by the way.

Uh, these people didn't stroll into a masque did they? Much less strapped with a couple of pounds of C4. They were on taxpayers property. Stick to reality please.

It's been done before. That's why they were videotaping it. To show how quickly the cops would move in.
artist4perry wrote:I think they acted rudely, and I am glad the officers took it upon themselves to ask them to leave.
You think individual police should "take it upon themselves" to forcibly remove folks who aren't breaking any laws and violating their Constitutional rights? What else should the cops be doing other than upholding the law that they swear an oath to?
artist4perry wrote:Freedom of expression of religion is for the muslims too. Remove their rights, and you remove rights of all faiths.

They're free to stand on public property and hand out literature outside of churches also.

Yeah...the card might be worth more than the DOLLARS used to purchase it.

Oh and I know of several companies that are already considering throwing their employees off of their insurance because it is only a $500 fine per employee per month, while it costs them an average of $1200 per employee per month to provide insurance.

I love those Beck chalkboards that point out all of the Obama previous associations. As I told my sons 15 yrs ago " Who you hang with is what you are. Same goes in politics. Especially, Chicago politics !!!!!! He brought most of Chicago scum to Washington ! Blago will bring them into treacherous terrority to save some of his own A$$...... Get a front seat !!

Well since you so kindly minced up what I said and analyzed it...........it was my oppinion from my perspective. You apparently have a thing against muslims. I on the other hand have a good friend who is muslim. She and I have had many nice talks about religion. She about hers, and I about mine. We were both curious. I enjoyed her company very much in college. She is a peaceful muslim, and wants peace in the world. Amazing how the two of us can look at a God so differently, yet find friendship with each other.
