The Bon Jovi Corporation knows how to run a business. What other big time act does this where have a local act open for them on a stadium show?

Well I would make the argument that a true big time act doesn't need an opening act, nor do they use one.

However, I know BJ is a big time act, but seriously, why the need for an opening act. Be like the ESB and play 30 songs a night with no opener. Seems to me the true fan would want that instead of 10 songs from an opener and 21 from the closer, yes?

By the way, I do get why BJ does this...genius idea.

I thought they were doing it to give local bands a chance to play a venue that they would never get
to play....and the exposure is a good thing...No?

Actually, Kid Rock is the official Opening act. 7th Heaven will be the pre-opener.

I would say that besides Bruce, Pink Floyd is/was one of the only big bands that will go on without an opener.

Did you see where Jon posted Richie's number on facebook so everyone can leave him a birthday message on Sunday. I can't think of any other 80s act more active on FB. This band knows where there fans are and interacts with them accordingly.

Meat Loaf is another one that works FB constantly, can't fault him at all.

I see it both ways. If it's a band I'm die-hard about and only get to see once every few years, yes I'd rather have a full-blown 3 hour, 30 song set. If it's a band I see annually or even bi-annually, or one that I'm into as a fan but not a die-hard, I'm all for getting surprised by an unknown opening act that I turn out to really like. I'd love to go see Bon Jovi and be pleasantly surprised by 7H, assuming I didn't know of them.

+1.

I thought they did a great job and I thoroughly enjoyed their set. I even bought their double CD.

Well, only for those who happen to be into watching Chicago news. Heh heh. I never did understand why the Superstation feed includes our local news (TBS doesn't do that), but I always watched the evening news for Chicago when I was out there, because I was homesick. :-( LOL.

And WTG, 7h Boys! Sounded great!!

Rhiannon... was that the studio lighting or is Kieth's hair frickin' pink again? :?

LOL! It was the lights. No pink. Displeased they only got 2 minutes at the end of the show... but hey, it's better than nothing, right?

No idea if this will be viewable (it's from Facebook so sometimes privacy settings jack it up) but it will likely hit youtube soon anyway...

So, again ...I missed the intro and first few bars, was this an appearance
highlighting 7th Heaven specifically, or do they do this type thing at
the end of each news day to highlight a local band ...what's the scoop?!?! :?

Stop ignoring me ...

I think it was because they are opening for Bon jovi? Or maybe it's a local summer music thing they do there! Not sure! So maybe rhi should answer!

They're getting more and more local attention recently, from Keith's "Idol" thing to the Bon Jovi thing. Plus, they're now getting airplay on a pretty major local radio station (Mix 101.9). Mostly, though, it's probably the Bon Jovi thing that would promt the TV news appearance. WGN, being a local station, does this a lot with local bands, Chicago celebs, comedians, etc. It's a local interest story, so of course they're big into that. :D
