Favorite Easy-Listening Albums

Postby Jana » Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:27 am

List your favorite albums you put on at home that you consider relaxing music.

For me lately, an album with vocals, Madonna's "Bedtime Stories" 1995. It's her only R & B album, which was a total departure for her.
It's sublime from beginning to end. I wouldn't really like it driving, but at home, when I'm working or reading or something, I love it. Not a bad song on it.

And I always love Beyond the Thunder, Neal.

I love Take A Bow... I have a guilty pleasure: an old Natalie Cole album singing some of her Dad's tunes and other jazzy-bluesy type songs.

Which CD did you finally buy, Lula? I've been playing his 2006 CD Once Again a lot these past few months. I love that album. It's been in rotation for a while.

Take a Bow is great. But my favorite off Bedtime Stories, and probably one of my favorites, period, of Madonna, even though it wasn't one of the singles off the album, was the first link I posted, Forbidden Love. Love that song, and it's so unlike anything she had done before. Strangely, enough, she did on another album a Forbidden Love dance club song, totally different song, that is really nice, too, but doesn't have the beauty of the Bedtime Stories song.

In a Quiet Room I & II by Dan Seals. Nice Acoustic takes on a lot of his career hits.

Wow, he's really good doing the acoustic versions. Some singers are a little disappointing.

I played that album into the ground. It's his most intimate album. And I had been playing his newest one so much, "Evolver," that I went back to the middle one, "Once Again", which is a really sexy CD. Love it.

I really enjoy his last one, Evolver. It's definitely a little different from his first two. He has a lot of collaborations and a much bigger sound. Very eclectic, different musical genres. It's a nice change, but still has the intimate songs, too, with piano. I love all three of his CDs so much.

From Once Again: (Some of my favorite songs)

Save Room: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3UfQx-dBa8
Again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XpyaRd- ... re=related
We Just Don't Care: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2t6OOVgFwk

From Evolver. Love Love these songs:

I Love, You Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrFLKsEJ ... re=related
No Other Love (ft Estelle) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TR3JuYr ... re=related
This Time (Sigh, so so beautiful) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07t_EU6a ... re=related - One of my favorite songs of all time.

Re Evolver, I hate that some of my favorites off bonus editions to other countries aren't on it, so I bought them off iTunes. The first two songs listed below are included on the iTunes version of the album. So if you buy your albums through iTunes also, I would recommend it on Evolver b/c you get the first two songs below included and a remix of another song, and the album is only 9.99 that way.

Floating Away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmcgc_pISOc
Set Me Free: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8MqKHfebZk
Can't Be My Lover - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIxCH4xQ ... re=related - such a fun reggae vibe. Love this song.

Pride (U2 cover) - Not as good as U2, but I love the stripped down version, just John and his piano -
