I'm still in shock that the vote was 29-1 in favor of building a fucking Mosque where Muslims can come and gloat about 9-11 on the very site where the remains of victims are/were scattered. Who voted on this shit ... the Taliban? This is an act of treason and I hope that this mosque is continuously defamed and bombed. Considering the wishes of the families and the non-Muslim community are being completely ignored, I consider anyone that walks into that place (without a bomb) an enemy of America. I just can't believe that they're serious about building a mosque there. How disgusting and disrespectful.

Isn't it actually two blocks away from Ground Zero and aren't they only going to be tenants in a building that's already been there for ages? What's the real scoop on this? What's the length of two city blocks?

Start building the wall around this country that Pat Buchanan proposed so many years ago. I'd then slowly pull all of our troops from around the world home (probably a 2-4 year plan) and end all aid to other countries. We'd be rich, protected and with an end to all of those bullshit social programs, taxes would be cut severely and businesses and those that work would prosper.

Any chance that you could eliminate Wall Street as well? I learned that 60% of the profits for the company I work for goes straight to the share-holders! No fucking wonder why everyone in the store works for part-time minimum wage! If all that money was going back into a privately-owned store instead, everyone could work full-time, livible wages, and there'd still be plenty of profit leftover.

And those bailouts? Never happened. Give us our fucking money back!

now back to the topic... we as a nation inspire religion of freedom dont we... so if we dont allow this to happen... whose to say that someone elses religion will be next, sometime down the road??? So just be careful about not allowing this to move forward... But I get the emotional aspect of being so close to where the extreme terrorists wanted to destroy the country, that you have to wonder about the motive of the Mosque being so close to ground zero in the first place...tough call!!

Well said, there are several important factors... freedom of religion, the fact that the towers were destroyed by Muslim EXTREMISTS, and the emotional impact to Americans... personally I say freedom of religion is what trumps everything, they are allowed to be there.

I think anything that will be built near a site that is so sensitive to the American public be scrutinized beyond any normal sense of scrutiny. But a mosque in and of itself and the people in it are not inherently anti-American. In every group, there are radicals. And the radicals you refer to here are something to be concerned about. But what of the majority, the good people that this is actually being built for?

To me, it’s a nice slap in the face of all terrorists to say hey, look what you did to us and yet not only will we kick your ass from one end of the globe to the other, we will work with the better people to create lasting peace. It is not the white man’s responsibility to grant Muslim Americans the right to build something somewhere – that is already their right as Americans. To restrict that right because some of “their kind” are evil is what would be anti-American.

Kill the bad and let the good flourish.

Now, because of past history, feds should keep an eye out just as they likely do with everything else. And if terrorists are using that mosque or any other to plan attacks, then deal with it.
