Anybody remember this album from 89? Just stumbled on it and ordered it a few days ago. Awesome AOR album. Pretty hard to find in print.

Album features the likes of Luke, Randy Jackson, and Albert Lee...

Sounds good Matt. I've been ordering a few AOR oldies lately too. Just got Henry Lee Summers first cd, forgot what great tunes are on there. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td9syZDyeok And have Andy Taylor's Thunder cd (2008 re-release+bonus tracks) on the way too. :D

One of the best AOR albums ever...

This re-issue is a bootleg, but it's doen PERFECTLY! The gathering of Andy's B-Sides and soundtrack stuff is great.

find I've Got Everything, which is either the 2nd or 4th album depending on whether you count the two independent releases that came before the self-titled cd. Better songs, and a very strong Motown influence--which is no bad thing at all. You should love it.

not bad at all. Uncanny resemblance to a younger John Farnham also--weird!

Speaking of Whispering Jack, Farny's coming to the ACT in a couple months, got our Premium tickets booked! close seats too, cannot wait!.

Hey is this album available to get anywhere on the net? umm I'll pay for it, I don't mind but if there is a "cheaper" version that would be great!

Thanks! I'll definitely look into that one. :) I absolutely adore R&B/Motown influenced Rock vocals. Definitely one of my favorite vocal qualities in my 3 fave singers. I noticed that on the Hands On The Radio song I posted above, with his delivery and smokey rasp quality, HLS sounds very similar to EM and later Perry. :D

grrrrr.... I would love to see him live, but in the US, that is very unlikely. One of the best live singers I've ever heard. The problem is that most US-based acts eventually get to Australia at some point or another. It rarely happens the other way. One of the downsides of having a very contained music scene.

Of course, Farnham's supposedly recording an album of new material, so that will be interesting to hear.

main single from the album. You should hear the influence pretty well, both in the sound and vocal.

yes, and yes, within the variations that not everything exactly sounds like the rest, but similar enough. Maybe a bit more pop, where the rest may be closer to rock, but it certainly doesn't stand out like a sore thumb either. Treat Her Like a Lady is also, but that is a cover, so it's a bit different in sound where HLS wrote the rest by himself.

That's what I meant, similar in vocal tone and R&B/motown delivery. I normally like rock more than pop, so that's good to hear too. Will definitely be getting this one. Thanks a bunch! :D

yea, the vocal style is consistent. Unlike some singers where the vocal style changes with the song, HLS has a pretty well defined style, so it's going to be that Motown influence regardless of what material you put him singing. Of the two types, I'm not sure which is better, but I guess that's a topic for another discussion.

Great stuff!!! Who knew this great rocker was hidden away in all that preppiness of Duran Duran?! :o Probably my fave off of Thunder............. Broken Window http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJXQTPbV ... re=related

Mind you this one rocks me just as much today as it did back in the day..... Don't Let Me Die Young http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTrQWWcm ... ure=avmsc2

I am soooo making up for time, collecting some great talent that I missed out on or didn't give a chance, back when I spent too many years oogling Bon Jovi. Shame! Live and learn I guess.

All HLS fans need Slamdunk and the double Live CD. Both essential.

especially the Live one. Once you get past the very raw sound compared the massive studio production, it just rocks. No excuse now that the website now has it back in stock. Rather interesting as he re-wrote the 2nd verse on 2 of the songs (Roll Me and My Turn Train). Not sure if better or worse, just different.

I like Slamdunk, and especially the rock sound of the cd...although I'm inclined to think I've Got Everything has better songs overall. Hard to go wrong either way.

See that........thank you both for the recommendations! :) I have no problem with raw sound at all, some of my favorite LIVE boots from my fave singers are very raw sounding. Just talent, no magic! :)
