This drastically changes the landscape of the NFC. farewell to #4. Minny goes from 11-5, to a 9 win team overnight. I'm not going to lie, this worked in complete reverse throughout the other "dramatized" years and thought he'd come back over 100%. I'm kind of dissapointed not to be able to see him go at it for one more year after his tremendous season last season. Favre will always be one of my fav. all time players, hands down.

I'm not holding my breath that he's actually retiring.

This time though the Saints really beat him up really badly during the championship game. His ankle never healed correctlly is my guess and he just cant SPRINT... like he used too...
Right YoungJrny... if the retirement holds... as I think it will... the landscape of the NFC will switch drasticlly... of who now is one of the 5 or 6 elite teams this fall.

I think he definitely needs to hang it up...the older he gets, the younger all those D-lineman get who are coming to knock him on his ass...he's got an arm, and he's a hall of famer, but to keep getting his ass kicked by 300lb D-men at 40+ is nuts...

The old Gunslinger reported to Vikings camp 8/17 of last year. Don't hold your breath on this one.
I for one hope the guy plays and wins the whole thing.
PS- YoungJourney. 11 wins to 9? Dude, they will have to run Tavares Jackson out there. Count on maybe 6 wins if they're lucky.

There's always a chance he'll change his mind again...and if he came back I'd love to see him go all the way...it would silence (or at least piss off) the critics...I just know I would not want to keep getting knocked on my ass several times a week for 4 months at a time at his age...I can't imagine what his joints and back feel like...

Dude, he proved at 40 he can be the best in the game. Why hang em up if that's the case?

bcause the Saints are the FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON... I think they could easily end his season in game one if the Saints use the same strategy, which was blitz and going after Favre on every play...

I never said he wasn't good...he played a killer season last year (although he failed against my Panthers

)...I'm just saying last year it was 40, now it'll be 41, then 42...the body, especially an athelete's body, can only take so much before age takes its toll...like I said, I can't imagine how his joints or back feels at 40 having been in this sport as long as him...I'm just speaking from a "what I would do" perspective...
If he can come back (again) and have a Superbowl season, more power to him...

Perhaps he plans on announcing his
return after that game!!
Love and respect the guy and what he's brought to the sport, but yikes ...when all I'm doing is
feeling sorry for him/his family for an entire game ...I just don't want to see him permanently
damaged, that's no way to spend the rest of your life!!

A few things-
Chilly just gave a newser and said he hasn't heard from the horse's mouth about retirement yet...
Secondly, wife Deanna just re-upped her Minneapolis gym membership.
I think he stays.

She can always cancel the membership...

It'd be kinda cool if Favre would hold out for an even 20. Why stop at just 19?

I sure hope we've seen the last of this douchebag, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Smart money's on him retiring from training camp, which he already did last year.

why "douchebag?" isn't he one of the best to play? isn't he a stand up guy? just asking.

Nevermind Matty- he is sniffing model airplane glue again.

The Old Gunslinger is a man who just doesn't do training camp anymore. He has earned the right to do so. The toughest sonofabitch ever to play professional sports, period. I love this fucker.

Well, before Favre, Jackson led them to a 10 win season and into the playoffs so it isn't far fetched that Jackson could of actually learned something and lead a team full of talent on offense as well as a rampaging defense. I can see 8-8;9-7 this season now for Minny. That's how big of a dynamic Favre brings to a team overnight and what you can do as an overall offensive standpoint. I'm bummin.

If anything, they are inside sources. Just weird for Favre to wait this far into training camp and work in REVERSE to provide retirement. Either we don't know something everyone else doesn't know or his body is more banged up than ever imaginable, forcing him to hang them up. Crazy that he retired in the offseason before only to return in August, but this time he didn't say a word during the off-season but decided to hang it up the first week of training camp.

Remember last year, he waited until the 17th of August. He is coming back, bank on it.
