O.K. Woman moment today.

I was in Wally World getting my groceries and meds, and I saw one of my students from when I subbed for half a year. Her teacher (who was my friend) was killed in a car accident during the middle of the year. Since I was certified to teach P-12 the principal, knowing what I did when I filled in for another teacher, asked me to take her place for the rest of the year.

He said the children love you, and they don't need a stranger taking over their room right now.

So, I took her place. It was hearbreaking. These babies cried every day for her. And came to me for hugs and reassurance. They loved having me in her place. I would hold these children and let them cry, and tell me what they loved about their teacher. Sometimes we forget, they need to morn too.

To make a long story shorter..........this little girl was one who took it the hardest. She saw me and her eyes lit up, and she yelled .........."Miss Ginger!" and ran to hug me in the store. I talked to her and her mom, and wished her well in middle school, and told her to do great things with her life. She said she would. Hugged me again, and said, "I love you Miss Ginger." I told her I love you too.

Danny was with me, and I walked around the isle and started crying uncontrollably. I started missing my friend, and felt so badly for those children.

But for a child to be so elated by just the sight of you. To know you did something good in this life.......There is NO BETTER JOB on the planet!  :D

I will tell you at the gas station I was tempted to hit a guy in the back of the head! I waited in line for 5 minutes or more trying to pay for one soda. It comes my turn, and some schmuck comes in and jumps in front of me. The check out girl was pissed at him, looked at me, and I waved her to go ahead and shrugged my shoulders. Mentally that was not what I did.

That's lovely. Everyone deserves to have at least one 'Miss Ginger' in their educational life - sadly, I think a lot miss out. But wouldn't it be great if we valued teachers and education a bit more?

A lifetime impact. A transfer of your "DNA".
Teaching is not a job, it is an obligation.

I haven't been to work in over a month and I am missing it terribly!!!!!!!!!!

Getting better. Lots of warm bed, hot tea and lovely people taking care of me worked wonders.

The natural process of humanity/evolution is to provide nurturing and enrichment towards the next generation. Biologically, this is what we exercise as parents and as adults. We have numerous years of wisdom and knowledge. It becomes natural to convey that wealth. In fact, it borders the realm of habitual obsession. An analogy if you will. While attending a live concert, musicians are more apt to perform at above quality if the audience is appreciative and expressive of their emotions. I am certain that most adults can recollect their teachers from the past. You may still remember their names or an event that influenced what you are today. You are many things as a teacher. Your role has no limitations. A teacher does not go to “work”, they go to school.

And we learn each day, from those who we are in charge of teaching.........thus the teachers become the ones who are taught. :D Nice insights.

What do you do Dean? I'm sure you've mentioned it on here before but it would require effort on my part to look for that and I'm feeling kind of lazy right now.

I think Dean's ideal job would be a toilet tester for a company that gives a lifetime guarantee on its products. Just imagine Deano getting paid to get well and truly tanked up, eat chili, ultra-hot curry, twenty vegieburgers with a side of sweet potato fries, and then go test that baby to an inch of its life. If it survives the Deano test, it goes on the market.
