Anyone here seen it? I bought it from Amazon last week and watched it a couple of nights ago. WOW what a let-down! :? I'm a huge fan of both Genesis AND Phil Collins, and to me... this was their worst live filming to date. I know that Collins was in serious pain during the last stretch of the tour, but DAMN! He's usually all over the place, and interacting with the crowd (usually being funny as hell) but did NONE of that here (with the exception of reading a few cheesy lines from a sheet of paper to the audience in 3 or 4 languages).

Phil announced Tony Banks to the crowd (which was freaking HUGE!!!), and Tony just looked at him and the crowd like "What the fuck do you want me to do?". He looked extremely pissed off, and didn't even smile! I don't get it... you're playing for what seemed to be 50,000 people, making millions of dollars, and you can't even crack a smile for the crowd?

Also, to me, the show itself wasn't very spectacular either. I liked the stage design at first, and was wowed at the size of the screens, but overall, once you saw it... you saw all there was to see. Nothing moved or changed up there during the show other than the images on the screen. The only really cool thing there was at the end when they lit up the pyrotechnics. That was pretty cool. Oh, there was a cool lighting system used on "No Son Of Mine" with the clocks onscreen. Forgot about that one.

Overall, I was just extremely let down. :( The video quality wasn't the greatest either, and a lot of the shots they were using sucked. I haven't watched the included documentary yet, but hopefully it won't be as bad.

To me, every other dvd they (and Phil) have released is superior to this one. Anyone else have any opinions on this one?

You said it better than I could have Jim. Huge Genesis and Phil fan here, and I was bummed about this DVD. My dad saw the tour early on and said it was great.

The performance was lifeless, the songs downtuned (and not that well selected either), and Phil subdued. Just a big disappointment.

Thanks Matt. It appears that all of the important people have spoken on this issue, so we can move on now.

I consider myself the biggest Genesis fan I know...I'm in the Phil camp...fuck Gabriel, the Bowie wannabe, and that god-awful incarnation with Ray Wilson....fan since 1976...In fact the first 2 albums I owned were Genesis's *A Trick of the Tail*, and Kiss, *Dressed to Kill*.

That being said...WAS a member of the fanclub and message board til 'ultrastar'(?) took over all things Genesis...started asking for $35 a year to post on the message board. Board was inundated with uppity Brits who worshipped Peter anyway...paid my $35, got my Fan Only DVD, then subsequently let the membership run out....saw them on Abacab, Genesis, and Invisible Touch tours....and Phil on No Jacket Required...

As far as WiR? Absolute garbage...from setlist to production....No thanks... I'll stick my '76 Boot DVD from Trick of the Tail, Old Grey Whistle Test 1980...

I've never been to the site. This is actually the only forum I've been a member of other than the WTF forum.

I have to say that I'm a Gabriel fan, but not from his Genesis days. He's one strange dude, but he does have some cool songs, and puts on one HELL of a show! :D I have his "Secret World Live" dvd, and it's freaking amazing!!! 100 times better than this new Genesis dvd.

I read that Phil was in more than just pain, he has a lot of nerve damage and spinal cord problems and apparently that's why he now can't drum anymore... I remember reading he was told if he continued he'd cause permanent damage and could even possibly become paralyzed. Probably why he didn't move much. I love Genesis with him though, and I love a lot of Gabriel's solo stuff.

That recently happened to me too. I love Honeymoon Suite and bought their Live At The Gods 2002 dvd, and wasn't impressed at all. Probably their worst performance I've seen. I have JSS' Live At the Gods 2002 dvd too from the same day and have to say JSSB absolutely wiped the floor with them. I've seen Honeymoon Suite a couple times live here since then and they were GREAT! And heard their Firefest show last year was great too. So I know they still kick ass. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuucaviLYgU

Must have been one of those off days, mind you, Jonny looked half in the bag. Maybe had too many wobblypops before the Gods festival.

Phil hasn't been the same vocally live since the But Seriously tour in '89-'90.
For prime Genesis and Phil get the Invisible Touch tour dvd and Seriously Live in Berlin (EPIC show must have been grueling).

I noticed on a bootleg of that tour (one that was filmed and broadcast to movie theaters...is this the same show?) Phil singing 'Mama' was way subdued....such a shame. Also didn't they film and allow people to purchase the shows that they attended via the fan club? Wouldn't this have been over 20 different shows? Shame for phil, I know he said at least he could still sing - I'd imagine he'll continue to make music. Never a big fan of Chester Thompson's playing

I found it rather interesting that they did a reunion. I like all eras of Genesis, but skipped out on the recent DVD. Glad to hear some opinions because I heard nothing about it. I know to skip it now.

'The Way We Walk' was the last good Genesis DVD for me. One of the very few DVDs to take advantage of the 'mutli-camera views' was what made it for me. Zoomed in to Tony Banks the whole concert. (naw, I don't like keyboards or nothing. 8) )

I hear there's a boxed set out with all their past live releases on DVD. I think I may invest in it, if only to see the keyboard solo to 'In the Cage' from 3-Sides Live once again. Is it even possible to bend fingers like that on the ivories?
