Do Not Call List

I was skeptical, but this works like a charm.

My wife was getting called constantly by solicitors, her phone rang nearly constantly. I put her number on this National Do Not Call List, and in a weeks time, all the calls have stopped. She keeps checking her phone to see if it's working.

Here's the website.

We've been on the Indiana no-call list for several years now and it works wonders. It stopped pretty much all marketing calls and is actually more stringent than the national registry.

If I did that, I wouldn't know if my phone worked either. Actually I did, but I wasn't getting those solicitation calls, but just in case.

It stopped the calls for me also. When I first started on the list I got a few more random calls, but I just informed them I was on the list and they stopped. I haven't received a solicitors' call in months.

Does it work for political calls? I don't even answer my house phone anymore...

We don't even have a house phone anymore. I don't know about the campaign calls. We aren't getting any though.

yeah, I've debated pulling it out of the house. Not really sure why I don't. I guess because cell phones, being what they are, don't seem that reliable. The whole "can you hear me now?" thing gets way old.

It does not apply to any charity or non-profit organization. Also, it does not apply to a company that you are doing business with. For example, if you have DirecTV, they can call you up and solicit you for upgraded services, etc. You would have to specifically tell that particular company not to call you anymore.

We had the same concerns, and 911 works better on land line phones, but we haven't missed the house phone at all. Not even a little bit.
