No way. Maybe in his Hurricane days. Kelly can hit those glass shattering power notes when he has to - and does it quite well. But he keeps them in reserve and sings comfortably in his chest voice. Lou had a naturally high voice that would stop you cold in your tracks. We're talking a one-in-a-million set of pipes like Perry. There's a reason the new lineup has slowed certain songs down or done acoustic renditions, probably so Kelly has an easier time getting *up there* and hitting those highs. The difference between Lou in his prime and Kelly is most noticeable on Foreigner's last album. For much of "Can't Slow Down", Kelly sounds like Augeri on "Kiss me Softly" or something. It almost veers on boring and monotone. At it's worst, it sounds like a generic rocker voice. Kelly is the best replacement the band (and the fans) could have hoped for, but he's not higher pitched than vintage Lou.
I personally thought Arrival did a very good job muting Augeri's voice. He sounded MUCH better on Red13 and Generations.
I haven't heard much of the Foreigner album, but from what I have heard, he is much lower pitched than he was previously. Maybe his voice has gone down a bit as he ages (or the Foreigner material was deliberately written lower-pitched), but those 2 cds I posted (the Unruly Child and Stuart Smith album) had him at least equal if not somewhat higher than Lou was generally. Granted, that was 10 years ago, so he may have lost some since then.
Lou Gramm had a very good voice with great depth and feeling, but he was never showy with vocal acrobatics like some of his peers. It was a bit fuller than Kelly Hansen's voice also, so Hansen is going to sound higher-pitched, even when hitting the same note.
