A sad day for Chicago politics

This is why they should test people before letting them on juries, LOL.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_blagojevich_trial
The entire jury deadlocked on every one of 21 serious counts against Blago, thanks to one woman who thought she knew better than everyone else I guess. I'm just about to start my 2nd tour of jury duty. The first time was about 11 years ago, and we had a guy that was like this lady. His brain was off in the clouds somewhere and he was pretty useless to us because all he did was play devil's advocate to any point. I remember he kept saying something like "What we got here is just the fox chasin' the hound." Luckily we were able to convince him to trust our judgment, and we got to go home on time that day.
I feel bad for this jury, and hope they send her a thank you card for wasting the court's time and helping to destroy justice.

There were 24 (not 21) counts total, and they only agreed on 1. And that one was "lying to the FBI".
They agreed that he lied, so how do not agree that he did all the other shit that he was lying
about?
Um... if he was innocent he wouldn't have had to lie!

hehehe.
Seriously though, I can't believe they have to retry this. This jury...wtf. Put this maniac away already.

Actually yeah. I think almost everyone expected full conviction... and they would have had it, too, except for that
one juror. (a former IL state gov't worker... yeah, nothing fishy there

)
I think the 2nd trial will do it though.

I'm as conservative as they come, but, for some reason, I like this fucker. Blago didn't do shit and there wasn't any real evidence to suggest that he did. He talked a big game, but I think he just liked playing BMOC.

...plus, I'd like to know how a former IL gov't employee even made it through the voir dire on
this case.
My dad went through voir dire on a case where a kid was hit & killed by a truck driver... as soon as they found out he was 1) the former owner of a trucking company and 2) a father of six, they said "Don't let the door hit ya, kthxBAI!"

Yeah, I got that, but then that might suggest that the prosecutors were in on it
if there were something like jury tampering. Either that or they had use up their alotted dismissals and had no choice. Or, maybe they thought having a gov't employee would work in their favor.

Fail.

That may be true. But, it was only SOME of the counts that the one juror held up...not ALL of them.
I just don't believe he was as 'guilty' as we were led to believe.

I agree. I think he's just a moron who joked around about the wrong things and then tried to cover his ass about it. But that's not to say if he hadn't got caught he wouldn't have gone through with it.

11 people were agreed on all 24 counts. That's more than "some".
The holdout woman
only agreed on the one count of lying.

He walks. In the end it will be just a fine. (slap on the wrist) and maybe a bit of probation or community service.

Illinois politics. Looks like business as usual IMO.

It will be interesting to see if 6 mos from now the lone holdout juror is driving a big new car, buys a new house or starts taking expensive vacations. My money says BLAGO bought her off. I wouldn't put jury tampering past him.

True...but it seems there should be other things they could be spending their time then retrying this case. Just my opinion...I didn't pay much attention to it...it all just seems like a waste of time.

Well, better than being worried about steriods and baseball I guess. There's probably some trickle-down vendetta going on somewhere the public doesn't know about. However, if the evidence is there then the retrial is justified. But thus far, other than a bunch of noise and he said/she said, I've not seen much myself.

Best thing ever... the very FIRST question he was asked (because of his ComicCon appearance here over the weekend) was "Is there anything you won't do to make a buck?" LMAO!!

Depends who dies. I'd laugh till my fuckin' pecker hurt if a bus rolled through the Westboro Baptist Church and killed everyone in it.

Blago- has severe mental issues IMO. He would be perfect for gov since they seem to end up in prison.1 juror saved his a$$. He still faces time on 1 count. I believe he is warning when tried again he will call Rahm Emmanuel & the Pres to testify.

BTW, this is just not true. Some of the counts were deadlocked 11-1...but only a few. The others were deadlocked with multiple people - not just one.

Well, ever since it happened, the story has changed several times. That ^^ was the story (as I heard it reported) a day or two after it happened. Who knows.

At least they're gonna retry him.
