REO ROCKS the GRANDSTAND IA STATE FAIR

Postby lights1961 » Thu Aug 19, 2010 2:10 am

went to REO love on the run tour last night... first off, Benetar is okay, but boring... her songs are good... but the band itself is just going through the motions... best song of the night for her...shadows of the night... always like that song... the crowd seemed bored too after the first 30 minutes...

ON to REO... DAMN... they were excellent form last night... started off with Dont let him go...and blazed through side one of Hi Infidelity... about 9,500 I think in attendence in the grandstand almost sold out, singing through the whole side one.. keep pushing, next... excellent... golden country next... again... GREAT song live... then the next three a little fuzzy about the order... but like you do, cant fight this feeling and time for me to fly... time for me to fly is one of the best REO songs in my opinion... just awesome... and done live is even better... then back on the road, roll with the changes, ride in the storm out and 157 to round it out...

LOVE this band, probably top five for me as I was growing up.... and I think the last time I saw them was the 2003 with the journey styx reo tour if that was the year of that tour... the energy of Kevin and the band was extremely high and I think the guys love to play here...

I guess my biggest observation... since the first time I saw them was 1979.. is how the music is so timeless... from our clasic rockers... just makes me appreciate that these bands still love to tour all of these years later... and do what they love as they get close to 60 and beyond... ;-) JMHO...

REO Speedwagon absolutely blew me away back in June on this tour. Just stellar. I was never a big fan, but I am one now. They just kept tearing through songs that I recognized with incredible energy, and powerful sound.

And Pat was awesome as well, she brings such great emotion with the songs and her voice just sends chills. All in all, Lights is right about them being timeless, and this is coming from someone who is 19.

Review at this link, can't remember if I posted before: http://melodicrockconcerts.com/2010/07/05/live-review-flawless-reo-speedwagon-and-pat-benatar-keep-love-alive/
