Anyone out there attend a recent Bad Company concert? I'm thinking of catching them when they're here in October, but I'd like to know if it's worth it. Any reviews?

Thanks Mike, Bad Company was one of the classic rock groups of the 70's I never got to see live. I think this sounds too good to pass up. 8)

Steve, there is A, AA, AAA and then the Major Leagues. FF went a bit too far, but I see his point. Perry had a better, more unique voice, IMO, but he isn't a better singer than Rodgers, not by a longshot.

I can't speak for this year, but last year, they were very good....but didn't play very long. I think we got about 75 minutes and about 14 songs. What we got was good, just wish there was more of it.

Maybe that's all he has to offer in premium voice? That really is bullshit though. A headliner should play for 2 hours minimum IMO. That's why I respect Bruce so much. He goes for 3-3.5 hours every night.

From what I've been able to find online, looks like the show will run about 90 min. & this will most likely be the setlist:

1. Can't Get Enough
2. Honey Child
3. Burnin' Sky
4. Run With The Pack
5. Oh Atlanta
6. Seagull
7. Electricland
8. Gone, Gone, Gone
9. Simple Man
10. Feel Like Makin' Love
11. Shooting Star
12. Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy
13. Movin' On

Encore:
14. Ready For Love
15. Bad Company

Encore:
16. Rock Steady

Yep and he still singin, and sounds better than he did with Free with was 30 plus years ago? I guess he didnt have the touring schedule or the high vocal range Perry had to cover, either way he is still out there and still has the chops he ever did.

Dude, no one has the catalog SP has...having said that. Paul Rodgers isn't a shitty singer at all. Like I said, He is called the "Voice" by his peers, and dude can still bring it. Ask Queen if you don't believe me.t

What's funny to me is Babyblue laughed out loud at Rodgers being compared to Perry, yet she is a Gowan fan. Makes NO sense.

I agree, Gowan is a worse singer than Friga and and it dont get no shittier than that ,babyblue is a nice girl. but she has to be tone deaf,i saw him last year and ran to the shitter and the beer wagon, and could still hear his screaching ass voice

Didn't make it to the Bad Co. show here in SoCal in July, but I DID see Paul and his solo band at the Del Mar Fair in June, and in the 10+ years I've known the guy, his voice continues to get better with each show.

It was the first time since he and his lady Cynthia were married that I had a chance to visit with them, after the show. You couldn't find two nicer people if your life depended on it . I am proud to count them among my friends...

Anyone who has a chance to see a Bad Co. show should grab it.

;^)

And with that voice.......he can. :P

Both Rodgers and Perry = great vocalists, just very different. I know that Paul Rodgers and Free/Bad Company were HUGE influences on EM and Mr Big.

Stevew2, Gowan may not be the best vocalist on the planet but he is VASTLY better than Friga.

You're so wrong about his voice it isn't funny. He is one helluva a live singer. And the 3.5 hour shows are no joke either. Mr Big couldn't play that long, for they don't have the catalog to do so. :)

Paul Rogers was playing longer sets with Queen, and Bad Co. should be less vocally-taxing, so I don't know what the deal was. Maybe last year was an abberation. As far as long sets go in regards to Springsteen, it's great that he does that....but Perry's voice wouldn't have lasted for 3 years if Journey had been playing 3.5hr sets. I think 2hrs should be a minimum length for a headlining band if they are not at a festival, which gives them time to perform the hits that everyone wants, and the ability to throw in either album cuts, new material, extended jamming, covers, acoustic stuff or what-have-you. Take most bands that have been around for 20+ years, and it takes 90 minutes to get through the hits.

With the way ticket prices are these days, it's not good when you get 90 minutes (or less) for a headlining act. I've seen shows where the headliner barely played an hour. Quality can win out over quantity, but at some point, you have to make it worthwhile for the audience to spend their money.

I'd put John Farnham in there, even though he's more pop than rock, generally. Been going since the late 60s, and hasn't lost anything. He will still sing over and beyond what he does on the albums, and is probably the most consistent live singer I've ever heard--and he's a tenor also, so he gets no breaks for singing low-pitched like some.

I'm not sure what "Perry's prime" is since he was able to do things in later years vocally that he couldn't do when he was younger, even though his range had diminished a bit. From a phrasing standpoint, Raised on Radio-era Perry was a much better singer than Infinity-era Perry, even though Infinity-era Perry had much more range. I'd put the peak somewhere between Frontiers tour and ROR, but he was VERY good--and one of the few that sounded better live than in studio.

Farnham I can agree with. That guy has to be the most consistent performer in music history, vocally at least. He's better than Rodgers; I prefer his tone at least. I guess you could say that both Rodgers and Farnham is better than Perry regarding consistency. Perry's prime was from Infinity to Escape, maybe even Street Talk. I'd rank 'em like this:

SP (just because that beaky motherfucker had the best voice in music history
Farnham - awesome and unique tone
Mercury - charisma and a good voice
Rodgers - kickass performer

Saw them a while back ( month or so it was a very short show ( lessthan 90 min ) good thing I won the tickets cause would have been pissed to shell out money for such a short set

I'm still on the fence about going. I'd really like to see them but the short set issue is a problem. :?

Do it, id rather hear 90 min. from a kick ass band with the original singer, then 2 hours with a band with a tribute band singer, and im not just talkin about Journey either.
