Well, my 40th birthday was on 8/17. On the 16th I went to the doctor with complicated migraines. Because of the medicine I'm now on, I don't know if I mentioned it or not on here, it doesn't matter. It's called Topamax or as he said people called it "Dopamax". As you increase the dose as you are supposed to do, you feel like an idiot. Luckily, I went back yesterday and he reduced me to two a day(from four) and said in two weeks to cut back to one a day. Oh yeah, I also can't taste fizz now so I quit drinking sodas and beer. It's miserable because I really want a beer but who wants to drink flat beer?? Well, since I was in my early 30's I've been on a low dose of blood pressure med. and have very recently started taking Prilosec. So, to recap- before he reduced my headache pills- I was taking two low dose blood pressure pills, a Prilosec and FOUR Topamax. SEVEN pills. He said the generic of Prilosec- Omeprazole- can cause headaches (maybe Prilosec does too who knows who cares) and it did with me so he put me on Tagamet. Twice a day. So, Kelli, welcome to 40. Two BP pills, Two tagamets and two topamax per day.

Well, the answer to most is, dust off the running shoes, and sweat off a few pounds.

No, it's not that easy...getting in shape isn't always the answer. Physical ability should always be eval'd first, because there might always be some serious problems that only your Doc can help you understand & fix. However, tuning-up the bod with a little sweat, even going so far as to get back into 'fighting shape', will do wonders. Bank on it.

Having been once diagnosed as pre-diabetic, over-stressed, and on the verge of heart problems, I will say that purging & building lean body mass has made all the difference.

The 20s didn't matter. The 30s were fun. But the 40s took their toll. The closer I get to 50 makes me want to live longer & healthier...and still be able to party. You gotta build up more than you tear down. It only gets harder the older we get.

Good luck on your personal 'Journey'!

Great advice from Arkansas! Good luck with feeling better :D You may want to ask your Dr. about magnesium supplements. They may be able to help you with your high blood pressure and stomach issues.

Good luck!!!

I feel for you...and understand a bit of what you're feeling, I think!

I recently turned 56 and can't see out of my left eye half the time...either some funky infection/allergy that is caused by something in my apartment building, I think. The eye doctor gave me tablets for a bacterial infection and an ointment to use; however, the meds are not helping at all. Oh, yeah, add to that a sinus infection that closed up my nasal/ear passages so I can't hear out of my right ear.

I get my exercise by walking a mile to get groceries and dragging a full shopping cart another mile back home.

What's that saying? Life's a bitch and then you die?

Happy birthday, Suzanne...you're still young at 40!
