Damn! I had no idea bananas offered all of these benefits. I will be stocking up on them!

It makes me happy to know this since I love bananas...but they can't be too ripe. And they are best dipped in melted chocolate:)

banana splits are awesome...and on cereal. LOL... I go through periods where I will have one a day... then not want them for a while...

Also... if you don't want the "banana strings" when you peel, peel from the bottom up instead of the usual way. That actually works, too. Just learned that one a couple weeks ago.

Haha! This article cracks me up! Bananas are good, they are nutritious but some of these claims are ridiculous! Bananas help with anemia??? Hardly! There's just over a HALF a milligram of iron in a banana and the daily dietary intake for an adult is 8-18 mg per day (more for women, less for men). It helps with morning sickness? Well, maybe the b6 would help and then just the fact that eating small frequent meals helps but bananas specifically are not the key here. The article also discusses the benefits of "B vitamins" in bananas, there is a fair amount of b6 but there is no b12 in bananas (despite the fact that the article claims b12 in bananas will help with smoking cessation). I also enjoy the claims they make about bananas lowering BP and decreasing risk of strokes...they don't lower the risk, they just don't increase it-interesting spin on that one.

Someone sure wants to sell some bananas!!!!!!!!

Bananas are good for a quick fix of carbs, fibre and potassium, but that's about it.

my son's doctor had him on a prescription of medicine he had to drink every day a couple times a day just to go to the bathroom for constipation.anyway i've found out lately there are a lot of things natural you can try that do work in regards to health issues.i started giving my son a couple bananas a day last year and he has been going to the bathroom regularly every day.people didn't believe me at first because it was so simple.doctors have people on lots of different medicines that lots of times could be cured simply by diet and natural remedies.it was a relief taking my son off that medication.

This is very true. Lifestyle changes and simple diet changes can remedy alot of conditions. However, most patients would prefer to take a pill rather than change bad eating habits or change activity/behavior on a daily basis. Of course, eating a banana a day isn't as difficult as telling someone to increase their fiber to 30 gm/day, eat 5-9 servings of fruits & vegetables/day, significantly reduce fat and sodium in the diet by not eating processed foods/fast foods when their lifestyle has been like that for 20/30/40 years. I would hope that avoiding prescriptions for children would become the norm, particularly for conditions such as constipation. Again, each situation is different.
