I'm sure to get a load of shit for this, but none of those servicemen gaves their lives for me, or any other citizen of this country....the last individuals who gave their lives for this country died in Pearl Harbor....unless there is a DIRECT threat on U.S. soil - no one can claim the giving of one's life for me.

Although it is very sad that they died at that young age... :(

You are absolutely right...you are going to get a load of shit.

Pearl Harbor? What about the REST of World War II? Doesn't that count?

I double dare you to go up to a Marine or Soldier and tell them they aren't living up to your standard of service. Please post the pictures of your new teeth after they bust yours out and leave you bleeding in a heap on the floor, asshole.

Those of us with fathers and many other family and friends who were very VERY proud servicemen/women agree with you Dean.

Whether or not your ideologies support that their deaths affect your freedom, it doesn't make them any less men and women who fought with honor and courage for their country. And that country offers you a freedom that most of the population of this planet doesn't have. Such as your very right to even say the above.

I hope there are no parents or family of fallen soldiers reading this thread now. I appreciate their sacrifices. And I live a free life so they will never have died in vain.

I fail to see how douchebags like S2M can for ONE minute, no ONE SECOND, denigrate the service of young men and women who don't ASK to be sent into harms way but do so to protect our rights and our lives while giving up so many of their own in the process, both rights and lives.

The REASON we have been attacked ONLY once on our own soil since 1941 (not counting the random shelling by U-Boats during World War II) is BECAUSE of our military men and women.

S2M I can't even begin to tell you how insulting to people who have served this country and to their friends and family your words are.

As always, I served for just under 8 years....I believe I've earned the right to speak my opinion based on that fact alone...I won't back down from my words either. I meant every word. So continue to flame me...

To think I fought for this country so he can say what it is he said, saddens me, and almost makes me feel that my service was in vain- almost.

Would you like me to post a copy of my 214? Why do you care anyway? Don't you have a co-worker to stab or something?

I might get in trouble for saying this, and I hope there are no Wisconsinites here, but I recall a "dialing wand" being sold up there in the Badger state for folks who mow dairy products 24/7. Their digits are so fat, that they hit 2 or 3 buttons every time they try to dial. So some smart ass invented the dialing wand and actually made some bank off it. Too funny. You know those folks pound those 56 oz beers at Packers games, eat cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and gulp milk all day long. I am sure they use a stick of butter for each plate of pancakes they chow down too.

FACEPALM.

Anyway, Stu, you're exactly right my man. I say it CONSTANTLY! "Everyone is worrying about what Kim Kardashian ate for lunch and what kind of toilet paper she uses and wants to argue over who's the best dance on dancing with the stars, but yet, very rarely ever hear about our kids fighting a war over-seas." We barely even know their faces and that saddens me. I always stop what I'm doing daily and understand the real hero's of this world and I will always give them a moment of my thoughts!

Hey asshole, fuck you.

Those people died in debt to the service of this country and our fucking freedoms. Who fuckin cares who told them to go where. They enlisted for the same reasons as you, you ungrateful piece of shit. Take a 21 year old, a 26 year old, an 18 year old, and ask them what the fuck the meaning of life is. They don't know SHIT. All they know is they thought they were doing the right things for the right reasons and they KNEW they could possibly lose their lives over it.

Their husbands, their wives, their children, they will forever be without the promise of what could have been, for the sole reason that their loved ones believed in what made this country great and gave their lives for it.

Hey, you know what? Pieces of shit like you that like to stir up shit for the sheer reason of being controversial should just thank your lucky fuckin' stars that you weren't born in any other country than this. And I'm a liberal flag wavin' peacenik, so FUCK YOU.

Did you serve, doppelganger? If not, then STFU. If I'm going to be villified because my position doesn't fall in with the rank and file, so be it....

While I'm here I'd like to enlighten you on a few other things:

I'm against abortion
I don't think we landed on the moon
I'm ok with the gays...

You have no tact, karaoke singer....come in guns-a-blazing, attacking me because I hold an opposing position to you....

The only thing I find sad is these young lives snuffed out because of some political dick-waving contest, or some religious, 'My god is better than your god' shit...rich, white politicos sending other people's children to die for nonsense....THAT'S what you should be worrying about.

LOL, Karaoke singer? To 100,000 people and over $500,000 a year in gross revenue? Try again douchebag. I have a platinum record on my wall.

Go back to your cubicle and continue high-fiving those assholes who think their clever enough to reduce the life of an 18 or 25 year old to a political soundbite. You fuckin piece of shit.

I guess you missed my point. No one SENT THEM TO DIE, DUMBASS. There is no draft. They enlisted of their own accord, knowing full well of the consequences. And they died for it. And pieces of shit like you get on the internet and reduce their lives to a simple, "meh."

Why? Should I sugarcoat my opinions? Stay PC? Nope...sorry. And while my opinion may be in the minority, I'm going to voice it. I don't think I was rude, tactless, or otherwise unprofessional in my relaying of said opinion...the responses, on the other hand, have been juvenile, ad hominem, and frankly - insult-laden garbage, borne from emotion - not logic.

I don't have any problem with your political beliefs. Abortion, anti abortion, for all I know you may think Elvis is still alive*. The point is, someone posted about the contrast between the interest in someone like Lindsay Lohan versus the people who gave their lives in service of our country, and you, an alleged serviceman, decided to shit all over that. Guns blazin'? Just be lucky you're on the internet and not in a venue in Charleston SC, Virginia Beach, VA, or god forbid Pensacola FL. You think you have protection because of the internet and you decide to make personal stabs at me, not even knowing anything about me, and all I've done has been respond to your post that you prefaced with "Duh, I know this is controversial, but duuhhhh, I'm going to say it anyway so people will pay attention to me." You're a fuckin' douchebag.

*Elvis is dead.
