Billboard's Top 5 Albums this week

1. Sugarland
2. Kings Of Leon
3. Elton john & Leon Russell
4. Rod Stewart
5. Lil Wayne

I didn't put anything after #5 because sales at that point are all below 50,000 units moved. Really nothing to get excited about.

Seriously, I have seen lists FAR worse than this one. I wouldn't bitch too much if I were a music fan seeing this list.

It should read "Elton John in Leon Russell."

You know, I never feel more depressed about the state of music in this country than on New Years Eve. Remember when they had good bands with good music playing on Rockin' Eve...etc....?

I see the crap on there now every New Years Eve and feel depressed as hell!!!

Rod Stewart keeps on chugging along with his American Songbook albums.

I've noticed. I'd love for him to get back and do a proper rock album again, but it's hard to blame him when he can crank these things out on a regular basis with little effort on his part, and they sell a truckload. Sad state of things.

Stewart has gone on record saying how much he hates writing songs. He says he's good at two things; Soccer and singing, he'd rather just stick to those.
Rod's done enough original stuff to prove that he's not just a glorified cover singer. Personally, I'd like to see him do some Celtic material with Clannad or one of the girls from the Corrs.

I KNEW this was in the typing queue...ready to launch. :) However, I tend to think Leon would be inside Elton. Puke shit yuck.

The Corrs are in hiatus..Sharon just did a solo effort I think, as did Andrea and Caroline popped out a kid. Still would fuck them all silly though...and then do it again and again.

I bet Rod would agree with you 100%.

I wonder if Mick Fleetwood tapped any of that Paddy ass when he was doing shows with them?

I tend to view him as kinda the world version of John Farnham. Just pick out a bunch of good songs that suit his style, but are either unknown or at least somewhat rare, and give them to him to sing. He already did that once before, and it didn't alienate his old audience. The walk-on he did with Jeff Beck last year proves he still has the voice if he wants to.

Can't blame him for recording that stuff though--it's making him a lot of money with little commitment other than showing up and singing. I just tend to tune out if ALL you do is record covers of old songs. Nothing wrong with it as a stop-gap between new material, but when it is simply all covers, I can get that at the local show.

Don't know, Mick is one hideous looking motherfucker. I can't see any of the Corrs girls turning their asses in the air for Ugly Mick. Dude looks like a fat European John Kalodner. From my senses, they all three look wholesome and well raised, but I have to tell you, I went through numerous jumbo containers of Vaseline jacking it to each of them hundreds of times. I especially concentrated on Andrea truth be told, because she has that "something" that my dick really enjoys. What was embarrassing was having the old lady walk in on me with my arm going 120mph in a blazing fury, and I noticed her, and didn't bother to stop. Andrea is THAT hot.

He performed one of the newest songs on this latest covers album on the View. His voice is so tired sounding. I think they said he was on tour or going to be in Vegas, something. All I could think was his voice is too tired or weak sounding for me to care about a whole concert. And I love Rod and have quite a few of his albums. Though, he never sounded flat or anything. Just not strong vocally.

that was last year. Rod can still do it if he wants to. Whether he could do it for a full tour might be another question, but his voice isn't as gone as recent albums might make you believe.

He sounds good there. Maybe it's the genre he's singing from the covers album, and a more mellow, understated song on the View.

He's also singing tuned down on his tours these days, which doesn't help one bit. The throat operation had a major effect on his middle end, and he lost most of the the rasp and was left with a very thin voice. Singing tuned down puts his vocals right in that middle area where his voice suffered the most.

Yeah no shit Dave. The doc told me I had tennis elbow. Hell, I never played tennis in my life. Sometimes the doctor just has to know, right? "This poor bastard needs elbow surgery because he couldn't stop cranking it out to hot chicks on the web.!

Vaseline? Fuck...when did that habit form, or was that all you could find at home as a kid to whack off to the lingeree section of the Sears catalogue? That shit is too viscous. What's wrong with Astro Lube, you cheap bastard?

Unfortunately , he had a few instances where he had to pay out because of his songs being a little bit too close, musically to other people's works.

I didn't put anything after #5 because sales at that point are all below 50,000 units moved. Really nothing to get excited about.

Not liking what I've heard so far from their new album, mind you I've only heard a couple of songs. I LOVED their last one. Liked Notion and Sex On Fire first listen. Nothing grabs me so far. Anybody else get the new one yet?

I really like the song off there, The End. But I have held off buying it because the reviews on Amazon by fans are all over the place with a lot of low star ratings. That threw me. I've listened to a bunch of their new songs on YouTube and just can't get a feel for the album.

Me too, too many other albums on my wish list way above that. Heck, going to be 3 EM/Mr Big cds in the last quarter of this year alone. Hey, I'm not complaining, hard workin' dude! :D And of course, JSS's Firefest live double album by the end of the year too. 8)
