Yeah well with Neal's little swipes...I don't know....I think there would need to be a lot of things that would need to fall into place.

That being said with this band the $$$$$$$$$$$$ talk and well....that would make a ton of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Damn straight, they would! Sure, they say the story is bogus (meaning that Steve hasn't contacted THEM to rejoin), but if they had an opportunity to get the voice that they've been trying to copy all these years actually come back, they would hear dollar signs ringing in their heads, and welcome him back immediately!

The attention that Steve Perry keeps getting recently is a testament to how much the public misses him and there is no way that they'd NOT want to cash in on that.

Since you named this site "The Increasingly Poor Decisions Of Rock Wombat", Andrew, I would suppose you would expect us to try to find out what you wish you had not done. Did you wish you had not tried, again, to get an interview from Perry? What would be a valid reason for him turning you down?

Perry left the band for good in 1998 to embark on a solo career and Filipino singer Arnel Pineda took over vocal duties in 2007.

They have since enjoyed renewed success after their power ballad Don't Stop Believin' was covered by the cast of hit TV musical Glee.

And now former frontman Perry allegedly wants to rejoin the band, according to founding member Neal Schon.

The guitarist tells Britain's Daily Star, "He seems to be enjoying the spotlight a little too much. The fact is he's no longer the lead singer. He walked out."

A UK report stating that Steve Perry is about to rejoin Journey is not true, according to the Journey camp.

A report published by London’s Daily Star overnight stated that Perry has asked his former band to take him back. It suggested the singer wanted in to capitalise on the recent success of his song ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ after it was covered in the hit TV show ‘Glee’.

Journey recently finished a new album with their singer Arnel Pineda on vocals. Pineda, a star in Asia for more than 25 years, was “discovered” by the band after they spotted YouTube footage of him singing a Journey song in 2007. Journey guitarist Neal Schon flew him to San Francisco to audition and on December 5, 2007 he was officially announced as the new lead singer.

Perry was the original singer with the band from 1978 to 1987 and briefly in 1995 and 1996. He also appeared at the Journey Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2005 but has stated often that he would never rejoin the band.

The current story is attributed to a comments made from Schon. “The fact is he’s no longer the lead singer. He walked out,” the story quotes him as saying.

Since Perry’s departure, Steve Augeri and then Jeff Scott and now Arnel Pineda have fronted the band.

Journey with Arnel along with Styx and Foreigner will tour the UK in June 2011. Tickets have just gone on sale for that tour.

The new Journey album with Arnel on vocals will be released in early 2011.

There is a flaw in the denial -- at best, the 2nd article is unclear, or worst case, purposefully misleading. It says:

"A UK report stating that Steve Perry is about to rejoin Journey is not true, according to the Journey camp."

Technically true, because the original article never claimed that Perry was about to rejoin Journey. It claimed Perry asked to rejoin, and Schon made the statement "The fact is he’s no longer the lead singer. He walked out." At least that latest article goes on to mention this, but it doesn't point out the contradiction. Who knows... someone could have just cut and pasted bits with a Neal quote to fabricate the scenario, but if you take the words in Journey management's denial literally, it's not exactly a denial of the original article. So... can't really tell if Steve Perry actually asked or not.

Me, I'm hitting the road in '11 to see Journey with AP, and that's what I'm looking forward to.

Really? I knew that he was active in music for that long, but a STAR? Really??? :shock:
