case in point why SP emotes so beautifully, and why that song is a classic. The singer for Degreed is devoid of ANY emotion in his voice, and sounds like a robot....but if you like that kind of stuff, have at it...

Even if this had nothing to do with me, I'd still post this - WHAT FUCKING HORSESHIT.

It's a killer cover and one of the best I have.

So agree, this was definitely not a good song choice for Degreed ...or just about anyone!!

The song sounds too rushed and lacks the passion of what Perry had brought to it. Captured by the Moment.

Well, there is only one Steve Perry...we all know that....but I disagee about it being rushed or having no passion. Are you good folks judging this on a 1 minute MP3? Don't recall any of you actually buying the thing.

Ok, let me get this straight....you want us to possibly purchase it based on a one-minute snippet, but not comment on that same one-minute? I'm confused....

I don't think it's awful. But I didn't go in expecting to hear Perry's emoting either. Of course the original is the best, he's in a class of his own when it comes to delivery. I like it for what it is.........a changed up, faster, more modern version.

And totally agree on Send Her My Love, but then of course I do, it's coming from one of my top 3 emoters. :)

Don't be a dick. You know what I mean. The point - samples are a guide to purchase...and I hope fair minded folks looking for a great melodic rock album will do just that. But to write a song off with such finality based on just 1 minute is pretty rough.

Yeah nevermind all that, lol, what about that Nelly Furtado cover of Time Stand Still? Can't say I love it because it's my fav Rush song so it should be left alone! j/k.. It's ok, but I wonder when people like her do covers like that how many of their fans think it's an original by them.

I don't love it because RUSH is sacred, that is, I don't think their songs should ever be covered...although - the musicians on Working Man did an excellent job....

As to Nelly Furtado, she kept true to the song - even doing the Aimee Mann part herself! lol

Yeah, but isn't it kind of an honor to those bands that people choose them for a cover and isn't it a great way to introduce the newer generation to the greatness of the songs that they would otherwise never hear? (in general, cause Im not a big Rush fan at all  )

I think the music in the new version covers the feeling of the song. The original had a heartfelt, passionate and personal tone in both the music and the vocals. This version emotes both vocally and musically a different feeling and they match ... making it a really good cover. This version seemed more like an impersonal 3rd party reflection and I liked it. And I didn't want to.

Careful there, you might sound a little like the loons here who didn't think any of Journey's should have been covered either  :P  But yeah I liked Working Man too, some of those were really good. And yes she did stay true to the song, I wanted to hate it  but it's not bad, lol.

Uh, NO, I'm nowhere NEAR a loon thank you! I don't mind covers at all, unlike them! The only time I wonder about a cover is when some pop singer does a rock one like that, but at least that one wasn't bad, lol.
