My Tunes & Some New Stuff With John From The Outfield

Hey everyone, just wanted to update anyone that's not on my Facebook page that I'm still working on finishing my solo recordings sometime in the next few months, and today pretty much just knocked out all the vocals for another new tune that will feature the guitar work of John Spinks from The Outfield. This tune is called "Hoping For You," and it really means a lot to have John play on this track as it was written originally with a close friend of mine back in high school right about the time that The Outfield hit. In fact, we played the song live first at a talent show, and we were followed by a trio of guys air guitaring "Every Time You Cry" and "Say It Isn't So" by The Outfield, so it's kind of a full circle thing for me.
Of course this version of the song is nothing like the one we wrote when I was 15, and I hope it's updated and with John's guitar work will sound pretty damned cool. I have a link of a preview at the ReverbNation site if you want to take a listen.
Just to update on what I'm working on for those that care....Baby Tripswitch ("Going Under") continues to roll along with about 5 or 6 songs in some state of completion. Being on the road with Stephen several days a week means it's pretty exhausting for us to get together and really dedicate a lot of earnest time to finishing things, although he has just moved to my home town and I expect that to pick up pretty quickly.
In the meantime, I've been doing a lot of personal writing, which is easy to do when you have instruments and a computer and can work by yourself until 3 am in your own studio. This project includes the work I've done with John, as well as things that sound a bit different from the Journey sound of Tripswitch, just because it's all me, and I never really wrote songs that sounded like Journey anyway. I'm trying to cater to my strengths as a player and songwriter with this collection, and it's a lot more personal. Hopefully people will dig it, and for everyone else, there's Tripswitch, LOL.
So here's a link to some of that stuff with the clip from "Hoping For You," which was meant to sound like a quiet hymn, but many will probably say sounds like a cross between Steve Perry and The Outfield
Check it out here if you like.
