Saw Kings of Leon on the Today show. They suck. Is there more to this band than what I saw and heard.....am I missing something or is this just another example of the extremely poor musical taste people have these days? :? :o

Never seen them but that must be something you watch. How else would you know?

As for seeing KOL, I just happened to turn on the TV and that was the channel it was on. I thought I'd give em a listen, as I had heard they are popular.
Man, what a let down!

Har har har! I'm not digging their new album actually, but I do like their last one though. Sometimes I'm just in the mood for some good ol' dirty rock..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF0HhrwIwp0 I seem to be moving more and more away from the pussified girly vocal sounding 80s bands. Give me some good old grit to vocals anyday. Probably why I'm much more into Mr Big than current Journey, Styx, REO, etc. (excluding Foreigner, quite like Kelly's vocals), give me some great crunchy guitar and bass, pounding drums and some killer EM type vocals with substance and I'm a happy camper (Can't wait to hear this new album, supposed to sound very live and raw, as per Billy very little overdub and Kevin Shirley wanted none on EM's vocals :) ). Much more into musicality and vocals than poppy hooks, nowadays. :D

LOL female band? Vocally, absolutely nothing female sounding about KOL.

I definately enjoyed their last album with"Sex On Fire" on it. The best that can be said about the band is that they built up their fanbase through touring and "doing it their way". They were not mainstream, they did not p ander to the masses. For the most part mainstream came to them. And that is noble. But their music sure ain't for everyone!

This is a good post.
The band has made it in spite of not selling out. While we can call groups like Journey, Foreigner, and REO commercial rock, these guys are the opposite. It's funny seeing basically a Southern Rock band from the states dominate in the UK and Europe and only get noticed at home after their forth release or so. These guys where headling HUGE shows overseas that alot of American acts can only dream about.

They are what grunge should have been.

Not a big KOL fan myself but you should NEVER judge a band from a TODAY show appearance. Nobody sounds good on that show, their audio people must come a news background because they know nothing about mixing music for TV.
