I'd hate to see what happens to your grammar in the event of an actual emergency.

It's a baby, not a spider in your cereal box. You react by being happy.

How did I handle it? "Great news, congratulations to the new addition to our family." Then I probably went back to playing video games or something. Ever since I could put rational thought together on my own, I realized that as long as I had a brother, and if he had a child, that I could possibly become labeled an "uncle." Congrats on learning the meaning of child birth and what it means to planet Earth.

Seriously though, congrats dude. I myself am VERY close with both of my nephew's and they give you an opportunity (esp at our age) to get a whiff of what it's like to be taught things to maybe you could use when that day comes of having your own.

hey everlast back in 2004 i was carrying my girlfriend to the bus station when she passed out and ended up going to the hospital.we were calling it quits after a decade.well i get a call from my mother telling me this girl was not going to the bus station.well i asked why in the hell not and my mother said because she is pregnant with your child.you can imagine my reaction especially considering i was on the way to the bus station, lol.things are way better now but at the time i was beyond freaked out.i had my whole life figured out and as soon as i kicked her out i was going to be throwing freaky parties every night.well i never got to throw any of those parties.lol.

I've been an uncle since the age of 12 (I'm the youngest of 5 children). Now at age 40, I'm not sure that my old brain could even remember that far back to know what my reaction was. I can tell you this...NOTHING comes close to the joy of becoming a parent. I've had very few moments in my life that surpassed the Red Sox winning the World Series in 2004, after 86 years of futility. My son being born surpassed it by more than words could ever convey.

<3 U, Rhi

It's tough being replaced as the baby in the family. Just don't try to compete when she/he gets here ... Won't work and you'll look like an ass.

I can just see him marfing down Zwiebacks and coloring on the walls for attention. "But... but... the baby was doing it too!!"

Since I've either delivered or assisted in the delivery of most of my neices and nephews I responded with "When are you due? I'll have to be sure to schedule my vacations around your due date!"
