(CNN) - Members of the Westboro Baptist Church announced Thursday plans to picket Saturday's funeral for Elizabeth Edwards in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Kansas-based Church - monitored by anti-hate groups such as the Anti-Defamation league and the Southern Poverty Law Center - is known for its extremist opposition to homosexuals, Jews and other groups.

The church members also oppose the War in Iraq.

According to the church's website, members will hold a protest from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Edwards, the estranged wife of presidential candidate John Edwards, died Tuesday after a six-year battle with breast cancer.

I believe Fred Phelps is gay. But his religious parents taught him that being gay is evil, so he hates himself and all the other gays.

This is similar to the way Hitler was raised to hate Jews... and then he found out he was a Jew himself.

There is a lot of self-hatred in the heart of Fred Phelps, just as there was in Hitler.

The trouble with these guys is that they are actually a family of lawyers, so they know exactly where to draw the line with their reprehensible conduct to stay within the law. Then, they can turn around and sue you if you try and (understandably) do anything to them out of rage at their actions.

They fund their whole church and everything they do on lawsuit brought against people who aattck them, try and deny they the right to protest etc...Phelps and others of his ilk are the scum of the earth, the Christian equivalet of the islamofacists.

Maybe we will get lucky and someone will "accidently" plow into them with a semi-truck while they are protesting!? Take the whole lot of them out at once, then they can see first hand what God REALLY hates!

The problem is that people SHOULD know about nuts like this. If no one paid any attention to it, that'd be a sad day as well. Besides that, these people are sick enough that I guarantee you they'd still do this stuff even if it was never in the paper, on TV, etc.
