Duran, Blondie, Cars Tour Speculation

Ok, so here's the deal:

Duran Duran has a new album coming out in a couple weeks (which sounds fantastic by the way)
Blondie has a new album coming out in early 2011
The Cars have a new album coming out in early 2011

All 3 bands will presumably want to tour behind their new albums....and I'm thinking that a tour with all 3 bands would be incredible. But part of me thinks that Duran Duran would rather be on their own or with a newer band as an opener, so perhaps it would just be the Cars and Blondie touring together.

But either way, 2011 looks like quite a treat.

I think your idea is great, but Europe, Scorpions and Journey will be a helluva force if they can make it happen.

I like some of each of the above ...
The Cars and Blondie more than DD. HLAW, huge turn off ...I'm just not a huge fan of the new/old wave.
I do, however, have respect for those listed!! For good ol' memory sake, I'd show ... !!!

DD was the bigger band, I believe...DD can tour all they want on their own.

I am sorry, but these triple bill shows are lame.

"Hey I know, let's roll on down to the local thatre and watch three 25 yr old bands pump out their techno pop hits tonight? I'll wear my sleevless striped shirt, and you wear your pink leggings?!! " Woohoo!

Um, no thanks.

Why not just throw Cyndi Lauper, Meatloaf, Berlin and Aldo Novo on the bill too? Hell, I heard Flock of Seagulls needs some quick dough, ask them as well. If they aren't answering their phones nowadays, call Missing Persons up, I KNOW they need the work.

I don't think Duran Duran needs two other bands. I saw them 2 years ago, and they filled an arena with some barely known as an opener. They have a large catalogue and a decent following. I don't see it, but who knows!! Maybe they will!

When I saw DD, it was like a big 80's dance party! Everyone were on their feet dancing and singing  It was a strange mix of people too. Not the types of people you see at a rock concert necessarily. But it was a fun time. I'd see them again. I've always loved Simon Lebon. He's hilarious!!!!

I would go, sounds fun ...I've seen the strange mix of people, I'm brave!! I just do
not listen to their music anymore and didn't much back in the day ...you know, when I was hitting the bong!!

Yeah, the older music is more "nostalgia" for me. High school memories  I wasn't crazy about their last album, so I'm hoping this new one is better. My favorite "newer" songs, which aren't really new, but post-1980's, are "Come Undone" and "Ordinary World". If you've never seen Simon Lebon in an interview, he is really funny. I love his sense of humor.

yep, everyone but Andy! He toured with them a few years back, but I think had a falling out again, because last tour he didn't join them. I never got to see him:(

Love Andy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTrQWWcmPwE

LOL every time I see this video from back in the day, LOL it reminds me of how polar opposite me and my sister's music tastes were. She was the preppy chick (Cory Hart, Duran Duran, etc.) and I was the rocker chick.

I was both!! I liked a wide range of music. I didn't necessarily like all the new wave stuff, but DD was middle of the road to me!

Cars headline without any question. They will do great numbers...on their own or with support.

I think The Cars/Blondie tour is more likely. With Ocasek back in The Cars and two new albums, it would be quite the show.

Then Duran Duran will probably venture out on their own. "All You Need is Now" is free on iTunes, a great new single.

Blondie and "The New Cars" did a tour 5 years ago together, so I don't know if they will package them together. I am interested in what Duran Duran will put out on this new album, the last album "Red Capet" was a piece of garbage. I wasn't a fan of Astronaut either. "Pop Trash" on the other hand was a great album. I love the song 'Playing with Uranium'.

Regardless, I don't think The Cars were the kind of draw DD has been throughout their career...

What happened to The Cars? Rick Ocasek quit the music biz it seems like pretty young because I've hearing nothing about him except his marriage to Paulina.

Unfortunately they'll be doing it without Ben Orr (him being deceased and all) and to me that's a huge loss, even with Ocasak on board.
And hell yes on Andy Taylor- no reason to see that band without him!

Pop Trash isn't bad..."Lava Lamp" is another catchy tune from that one. Astronaut was good, but just not as "classic" Duran Duran as you would expect from a reunion of all five. Red Carpet is even further from their classic sound, but I do enjoy listening to it.

What's coming with "All You Need Is Now" is by all indications a powerful return to their classic Rio/Seven and the Ragged Tiger sound.

Andrew, being that you spoke of abandoning Duran Duran after RCM, have you been listening to any of the new samples?

For those who haven't been keeping up with the new clips, start listening...

"Being Followed" - This just gives you the chills

"Blame the Machines" - Brilliant and classic all the way
