I love conversations like that. I seek 'em out. If none are obliging, I start trouble myself....

My wife and her step-dad or my wife and her brother argue, but that's about it. And she never starts it either. They just pick on her and she rips them a new one.

You definitely want my wife on your side.

Sure, add sports and music and yeah, we discuss and debate!!
I wouldn't call it fighting ...we love each other! It's the way we learn about one another,
form thoughts and opinions and express ourselves. It's called a family gathering!!
WTH else would you talk about?!?

I do. I'm a left leaning moderate and a portion of the family I see at gatherings are far far right conservatives with racist tendencies. Normally I'd be appalled but considering where they live (boondocks, redneck country), I'm not surprised.

Dude, even though my family is close, it's so dysfunctional with arguments and who's not talking to who and who said this to them or him and her that it gets pretty sickening. I'm close to my family, love every one of them and they are a RIOT to be around, but everyone has this in theirs. Always a conflict about something lmao. Some I don't agree with and some I just got to sit back and enjoy the ride as long as it lasts with stupidity of situations that's always a hoot.

Consider yourself lucky if the family arguments are isolated to the holidays - Unfortunately, I disagree with my family all year long

And yes I have 12 bottles of Miller Lite in my fridge but that's not going to do you any good is it

All families have that crap going on at one point or another.
Any of you have a cheap ass brother or sister in law that when you all go in for a gift for someone, they are way cheap? Like a married couple (with two incomes) that gives only $30 more than a recent college grad who does not have a job? That same idiot is the type where you ask...so what did you get this year from Santa-he answers like the 7 year old he acts like all the time. End of conversation. Come on, jack-wagon!!!!! How socially inept can you be? A normal reaction is to say, that's cool, what did you get? Right? Or am I expecting too much out of a 30 year old d-bag?

No arguing, but my wife acts like a complete bitch whenever within 50 ft of my mother. Always puts a damper on my family time.

Here it is in a nutshell. I have to keep my "mommy dearest" as far away from my in-laws and Dad as possible. My dad is 78 and still wish's every day that she would literally drop dead. She ("Mommie dearest) if things do not go her way or if something is said that she doesn't get, she is a complete witch. She's 70 now and has somewhat mellowed the last 10 years due to the fact she's losing her hearing and cannot hear what's being said and she's to damn vain to get a hearing aid which is fine by me cause I can say anything I want, she'll say "What did U say", "oh, nothing mom" and go on with life. Needless to say, my wife's in-laws were all down, her mom & step-dad who live in Vermont, her brother & his wife, plus my nephew from Arizona who are in the Air Force and are about to go to Germany for 3 years, her other brother and his wife and family, my sister, my niece, my dad and well had a great time. Without "Mommie dearest".

i had two uncles who used to come to blows and fist fights over the subject of vietnam.well one day they got into a huge fight over which drug was worse, crack or heroin.anyway my drunk uncle went and got a sawed off shotgun and my other uncle made a straight beeline tackle and knocked him right off a set of steps that would've made dick butkus proud.you could hear bones break he got hit really hard.that was back in '90 or '91 and we still talk about it.

back in the day when my grandpa was around, my uncle, my dad and my grandpa would Discuss and debate politics ALL DAY LONG while together...and they were on the same side...it was classic at the dinner table... then as my sisters and brother had the kids... then it would be debating and bragging about whose kids would get the scholarships... whos was in what activity...and so on... DANG did that get old after awhile...especially not having any kids ourselfs... but it was hilarious to watch it unfold as the kids have gotten older and starting and finishing high school and nothing really earth shattering took place...so far not one of the kids got that full ride to college...at least not yet...

Isn't it an American tradition to get together and discuss and start major arguments about politics?
Seriously, though...My family doesn't talk much about politics when we get together but, even when we do, I don't remember it ever escalating into an argument even when we disagree.

I only have one republican in my family, my sister-in-law and she knows to keep mouth shut around me. The rest of us pretty much agree about everything.
