Interesting take on the Westboro Baptist 'Church'

Has a really interesting take on this so-called Church - that all the protests againt gays, picketing funerals, etc, is just part of a money-making scam to give the family (who are all lawyers) a chance to sue people. Makes a lot of sense, actually.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Like St John jokingly said yesterday, it is actually a very genius idea. If someone gets terminal cancer, or some other terminal disease, just go take every single one of those motherfuckers out. Have fun prosecuting a terminal patient. I guarantee you he or she would become a cult hero in within these borders. I think it is a brilliant idea for a movie.

I'll start writing the story now, and will reference you in the credits, Dan. Thanks big guy.

It's been known since the start that they had a lot of lawyers in the family. I don't think that money/lawsuits are the sole reasons for their existence. I do believe that they either (a) believe the nonsense they spew or (b) are repressing their own homosexual tendencies (at least the main guy whatever his name is). The money just happens to be a nice way to fund their ridiculous enterprise.

I agree with you that there is more than just making money, but it's interesting to see what he has to say about how they picket funerals - 30 minutes, and carefully done to provoke an aggresive response, with very carefully worded language. I suspect this is a Church of Love and Hate - love of money, hatred of the world and, if they were honest, of themselves.

Ran into these fools picketing outside of a Kansas concert in Topeka in 2003. Someone had a sign that said the Space Shuttle blew up because there was a Jew on board.

Ya - that's the other aspect of the lawyer element. They know how to tailor their conduct very closely to the boundaries (but not outside) of the law.

The issue isn't that they want money or that Phelps is secretly gay. That's all bullcrap. These folks absolutely believe everything they spew out of their filthy mouths. If they really just wanted money, they would've just earned it from their livelihoods as lawyers or whatever else they do.

They certainly are hypocrites, though. If you ever listen to what they are saying, some of them curse like sailors, which is obviously completely the opposite of the way Christians are supposed to conduct themselves.

I've also e-mailed the following Bible passage to them several times and they've never had an answer for it...

God wrote:Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish." (Luke 13:1-5)

I wasn't joking. Let me be very clear about something else as well. I absolutely, 100% condone anyone that kills some or all of them. Get me on your jury and you'll be ok. I even have a motto. "If Dan's on your jury, there's no need to worry."

Money has always been an issue. Before the God hates Fags campaign, he was known for sending his kids around town several hours a day selling candy door-to-door.

It is true they are a family of lawyers (pretty smart ones) that love to sue and be sued so they recoup "legal fees".

Please ignore him and his cult followers. That is the best thing we can do. Their voices are simly white noise in Kansas.

I like you Dave, I really do, but sometimes you say the stupidest shit ever. Cussing is wrong? Dude, they are words, that's all. Words.

President Obama is a Christian and he swears.
Bill Clinton is a Christian and had a foul mouth.
W was president and he swore like a hooker.

The point is, EVERYONE swears.....it's no big deal, and to you here, especially the boys, Rip, 13 and Dave, who use asteriks, that is the gayest thing you could ever do. Besides, it has the same implication-that you were going to swear but put in a stupid little star...totally gay.

Deano, I swear sometimes as well. The point with the Westboro Whackos is that they claim to be God's chosen people and constantly curse when the Scriptures they claim to follow teach that "blessing and cursing should proceed from the same mouth". The point is not that people cannot curse but that these folks are humongo hypocrites.

BTW...I don't know that I've ever used asterisks here to indicate a swear word. If I want to curse, I curse. Actually, my favorite word is "ass" and I use it in many different forms...Ass, asshole, assburglar, assdump, asseater, etc.
