American Idol Season 10 Premieres Tonight

Postby rockinfayrose » Thu Jan 20, 2011 12:30 pm

This thread is for the great big 1% of fellow MR posters who will be watching along with me

This season there are said to be many changes to the show, in addition to the obvious revamped judges panel, so we'll see if this season can recapture some of the lost enthusiasm of seasons past. Right now, I'm not overly thrilled with Lopez and Tyler as the new judges, but we'll see.

Anyone of a different timezone see the premiere yet?

The kid's watching it. She says Jennifer is another Paula, in that she's too nice and doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. And if Tyler is supposed to replace Simon, he needs to get nastier. She said he's too nice too, so far. Randy's the only honest one on there now.

Oh that's not good - half the fun was Simon's bluntly rude comments. I mean, if a wannabe goes on the show and sounds like a dying cat than they need honest and bold feedback, not a boring, sweet "Sorry, but it's a no" - How is that exciting TV? :?

True. I went in there to see the new panel, but I won't be watching it.

I thought it was actually pretty decent for the first show. Yes, Jennifer is too nice (but I like that about her), and Tyler did his high pitched noises WAY too much! I'm actually worried that if he keeps that up... I'll get tired of that shit REALLY quickly. :?

He did seem pretty witty though, and I really want to see more of him on there before I form an opinion of the line-up. Guess we'll know much more soon enough.

I'm guessing the show will die without Cowell. They'll need some pretty special talent otherwise.

He may have been blunt and rude but he was dead on the money.

I never watch until they get to the final 12. So I'm reserving judgement. I don't really care that much about the judges. I'm more interested in the talent.

Kinda my thoughts too. Although I thought Tyler was a little too pervie on his comments a couple times. Especially with the sweet little 16 year old, him talking about her skirt being just short enough. I mean that's probably the best I've seen Tyler look in a long time, but she's probably thinking, ewww.....ok grandpa.

I thought Tyler was funny and no one can doubt his credentials. Did you eat paint chips was a nice way of putting crazy as in lead paint ingestion. I am glad I got to see Aero smith this summer. There will never be another Adam and that is why the show may suffer. Simon/Paula-are not missed by me.

I'm glad Randy has a job. What a talentless tool. If it were not for AI, in this point of his career, he'd be out on a corner drinkin a 40 and paying for food

Personally, I thought the new panel worked well,
and I think Tyler is gonna be pretty hilarious all season.

Did think it was cool that they showed a pic of Randy w/
Steve when they were introducing him :D

The jury's still out on my decision about the judges right now - but I just get a big kick out of watching some of these poor fools making complete idiots out of themselves. The outlandish ones with the voice that can crack a mirror and then say they are the next American Idol, those just crack me up  The Japanese Michael Jackson wannabe singing Miley Cyrus  Or the nerdy guy who couldn't stop burping  - just hilarious stuff

Serious?

Jackson was one of the highest paid and most sought after session bassists around. He'd be doing just the same as he did for 20 years before Idol.

jackson finds talent and works with a ton of artists besides being a bass player... Mirah Carey being one of them...
and actually Tyler was hilarious, NATURALLY funny and the banter didnt seem forced... the chemistry is pure between all three of them... where the last couple of years with that idiot Kara and worthless addition of Ellen, jut awful... it wont be the end idol no way... I can guarantee it... its about the talent and not one judge...those who seriously think Idol will die, are badly mistaken...

Yeah because Neal Schon was just sitting idle and couldn't find work before Journey reformed in the late 90s. Lets see - Bad English, Hardline, Paul Rogers touring guitarist, Abraxas Pool, Solo Albums, etc. Yeah, what a talentless tool.

That dude, especially in the 90s and 2000s, for that matter, has been constantly out there doing new music regardless of what band or solo stuff it is.
